I thought I'd share this from a recent e-mail. Brad Walch of Alamo, NV was scouting his elk area with family or friends when they came upon a bull elk that was tangled in a fence and seemed to making matters worse, even tangled up more and in a nearby water hole. They were able to wrangle the bull to the ground(tough hombres!)and cut him loose. The last pic he is just resting a bit after his ordeal before taking off!

I have always wanted to come onsomething like that. My uncle has a deformation in h knee/shin from where a deer caught in a fence kicked him.

It was a big bodied 2 point.

awesome. 2 years ago i rescued a fawn out of a fence. the mom was standing 50 yards away just making funny noises at me.

Buy those guy's a beer, job well done.

That a great thing to do. I cut free a buck deer once who was hung up in a steel cattle panel. He layed there for quite a while till he got his strength back. Now I wished I would have put a couple of cattle ear tags in his ears just to see if he survived.

That's awesome. My father and I came across a yearling doe a few years ago hung up in a fence. Felt pretty good to get it loose and watch it run off.

Great Job. Hope the bull makes it. One winter late. I helped a coupld fawns out of the fence only to find out the next week they had died. But this reminds me of Thanksgiving about 8 yrs ago. We have a place down So Ut. It was after noon and my mom kept asking us if we heard screaming! We all stopped making noise and heard nothing. This went on for a couple hrs. Ever so often Mom would say did you hear that . We all went outside looked around and seen or heard nothing. The next morning The Sheriff knocked on the door and asked if we had seen or heard anything last night or yesterday. Well it truns out across the highway in the barrow pit. A 14 year old boy tried to help a 4 point out of the fence only to get caught in the fence with the deer. Both were dead! From the house we were unable to see the fence on the other side of the road where they were stuck. The Sherrif said he thought the buck kicked him in the head.

LAST EDITED ON Sep-29-11 AT 11:20AM (MST)[p]Ha! We always joke about having our buck/bull tied up in the woods somewhere, didn't realize you Nevada boys actually do it! :) Kudos to your buddy. I agree with NebrCatMan, they should have ear tagged him :) There is a young buck that I have seen running around that one of the ranchers ear tagged (#21) pretty funny to see. I think he avoided getting shot the last 2 years because people were not sure if they could shoot a tagged deer or not.
