What are the general deer seasons dates for Idaho? Do they change from year to year? I have tried their website but info is hard to get.

The 2006 regulations will give you a fair idea for next year, but seasons can change each year. We typically develop season recommendations by mid February and ask for public input late Feb-early March. The Commission meeting to set 2007 seasons will be Mar 7-9 this year. The regs book should show up on the website in late Mar with printed regs by mid-late April.

Opening dates for deer are fairly standard: most general mule deer seasons open Oct 10 and close either Oct 24 or 31.

Elk openers are more variable across the state: my front country general rifle season and several others open Oct 15. My back country units have 2 hunts: B tag is Sep 15-30 and Nov 1-18; A tag is Oct 1-31.

It's important to realize that the Commission has final say on seasons, so seasons can change from anything you see recommended or discussed elsewhere.

The start dates have been pretty consistant last few years (2nd tuesday of oct for general season) but some zones had a few days shaved off the end due to winter kill.
