Unbelievable big bucks

I'm sure most of you have seen this huge buck taken this past season by Jason Neufeld from Saskatchewan. I believe someone posted it here earlier and it's also been posted on the Boone and Crockett Trophy Watch web site. What you may not know is that it green scored 230 7/8 net NT and that he took a second monster buck three weeks later only 600 yards from where this one was shot that scored 215 0/8 net NT.

Jason emailed today to give me the details about these two monsters and amazingly enough both these Saskatchewan bucks were shot in a CWD herd reduction zone that has had heavy hunting pressure for the last several years. Taking two bucks well over 200 inches the same year within eye sight of each other is an unbelievable feat and one that I'm sure won't happen for Jason any time soon. Once the 60 day drying period has passed he will get the larger deer scored again for B&C. Amazing story, congrats to one happy hunter.

That is totally awesome. I'am sure the hunter deserved both of those bucks. Again, congrats.

Beautiful Bucks! I am envious!

Their bodies don't look all that big though, maybe because the antlers are so large?

I'm speechless, why can't I have a year like that, I love the 2nd buck, deep and tall with a cool looking dropper!

wow huge bucks! Both are around 20- 22 wide and like 28 high, with huge visual apeal, those are trophies of a life time! I wouldn't be surprised if they both carry the same jeans or are father and sone because those bucks so close together is something that every one wished was in there hunting zone!

Just a guess, but I'd venture to say that "heavy hunting pressure" in Saskatchewan might be a little different than "heavy hunting pressure in the lower 48" True?

Super bucks; congrats to Jason. Too bad they are doing the CWD reduction. From what I've seen in Colorado and Wyoming, it is a tragic waste of the mule deer resource with no long-term benefits.

I'd be curious to know the age of the 230 buck. His bases are not too big and he looks young in some ways. They sure grow some whoppers.

First let me say that these are two awesome bucks and congrats to the hunter those are two bucks of a lifetime. Now for my rant on the CWD zones.

The hunting pressure in these reduction zones is extremely high. The tags are free and you can get as many as you like. For this guy to have shot these two bucks he would have had to shoot 6 deer total himself. The rifle season runs approximately a month to a month and a half. I refuse to hunt in these zones as I do not agree with the way the government is handling the CWD issue. We own land in one of these zones and tresspassing is rampant with these free tags. Landowners are getting fed up and are starting to severly restrict how many hunters are on their land. I know the one ranch in the area these deer were shot is getting very strict and that may be why there are some bigger bucks still around. The public land to the north of our farm is just about totally void of mule deer now when just three years ago it was some of the best hunting around. I am in no way implying that this guy did anyhting wrong in shooting these two awesome bucks as it is totally legal to shoot as many as you want as long as you have the landowners permission to be on the land. It is just not my cup of tea to shoot that many deer and possibly destroy the gene pool in an area that was once one of the best in the province. Hunters in the province are very split on the way things are being handled. It can be a very touchy subject. I have to admit I am a little surprised there were two bucks this large in an area that has had unlimited tags for the last 3 years.

LAST EDITED ON Jan-10-07 AT 11:30AM (MST)[p]sounds like a crock, to shoot two big bucks on a depredation tag...what ever, your right not my cup of tea!...

jealous but of course I am.....but still, its a crock!....

uh will he eat them ?

If I had the tag in my pocket, I'm quite certain neither of them would have been passed on. Its too bad the government is going to ruin it though. UNREAL bucks and an UNREAL year for that guy.

Congrats!

I am calling bull though on two monsters in a season...I would give my left boy for either in a lifetime:)
