Dilemma...just found your elk spot

Wow! I have a problem. I just had a buddy (non-hunter)stop by who was blabbing about helping pack a friend of his into his elk hole. Seems he has this spot all to himself and kills a nice bull every year. Of course, this guy tells me EXACTLY where they go. I feel like I accidently saw my buddy's daughter naked and don't know whether or not I should look!

Should I pretend that I didn't hear a thing or go check it out?

Give me the GPS coordinate and I will go check it out, if it's anything like you say I will give you a thumbs up.

<------<< I love it when the plan comes together.

The way I see it is if you cannot find a good spot of your own then ruining it for someone that paid there dues is weak.
How would you feel if the tables were turned?...Think about it.
This is exactly the way good spots found after hard work turn into a few years down the road (crap spots).
Best,
Jerry

Cleavage is like the sun, you take peeks, you don't stare!

I'll tell you who it was . . . it was that D@MN Sasquatch!

Stay out.

Government doesn't fix anything and has spent trillions proving it!!!
Let's face it...After Monday and Tuesday, even the calender says WTF!

LAST EDITED ON Oct-25-11 AT 08:08AM (MST)[p]I got a buddy who's daughter is legal tender and hot. I'd look in a New York second...

I say go for it. It's stupid to think people have solo hunting rights to public land.

Don't take his spot that's just dirty pool but is there a spot similar to his possibly near his spot where the 2 of you can help eachother and might offer you an opportunity?

up anyway."

Sure it's public land but you had no clue about the area. Respect that fact and stay out. Better yet go find one for yourself and be careful who you take in. Loose lips sink ships.

ON the other hand I can't stand people who hunt all over and claim that every spot on the map is "their" spot and so they better not see you in there. Just because you hunted an area doesn't mean you own it. They seem to pretty much cover all areas of a unit. In that case I tell them to suck an egg and that I've been to so and so spot before as well.

This is different though. He took a guy in there that couldn't keep it quiet. Learn from his mistake but don't take advantage of it.

Naked huh? She'd better be over 21!

Go find your own spot. There are other "spots" out there for you. Friendships are too important to throw away for the sake of a dead animal.

Both (the girl or the spot) would be tempting but neither one would be enduring.

Far too many hunters think it's all about the "spot" while never realizing it's more about the hunter's ability.

As usual, just my 2 cents

I'm betting about a dozen guys know this spot already, I would hunt it and see if it's a great spot or not.

Well, here's my take...just for the record. First, I NEVER hunt a spot based solely upon what someone said they shot there. Second, there is already one more guy hunting the spot than I like to see in the areas that I hunt. What I will do is use the info, do some scouting in surrounding drainages and seek out an area that even this guy doesn't know about. Now regarding the daughter....well, that's a different story.

Yeah, and take a bunch of guys with you. Maybe post the GPS coordinates on here, along with a map.

Leave it alone.

Does anybody really believe there are public land 'spots' out there that one can have to themselves anymore??? At least in Utah I don't think they exist. You might know a water hole or a little pocket of trees but not a canyon or area of any significant size.

Boy, in all honesty, Yes. Maybe not in Utah, but I know a few where hunters just don't go. Especially in LE units where there may be others that know of the spot, but you'll never see them unless they draw the tag the same year as you do.
