CARLSBAD, N.M. (AP) - A Sapello man accused of illegally killing a deer in October in the Guadalupe Mountains has entered guilty pleas in the case.
Thirty-three-year-old Daniel Spurlin has pleaded guilty in magistrate court in Carlsbad to unlawful killing of a doe and unlawful possession of a doe.
Spurlin been fined $400 and has been ordered to pay $114 in court fees.
Spurlin and 29-year-old Anthony Salazar of Sapello were accused of hunting during a restricted muzzleloader deer hunt.
Authorities say a doe carcass was wrapped in a tarp and hidden near the two men?s campsite.
Salazar has pleaded not guilty to unlawful possession of a deer. A court hearing on his case is set next month.
