A good freind got a phone call last night from the DWR saying his boy is next in line for the Beaver Late Elk. He asked me what should he do, I said take the tag if you can get the time to hunt. He took my advise and is getting the tag.

My brother had this tag in 2009 so we know the areas that he hunted back then. This hunt starts a week later and goes week longer than it did in 2009.

On such a short notice for this tag I told him I would try to get some more info for him. His boy is 17 and has never hunted elk so this will be a fun for him and his Dad.

If anybody wants to share some info I'm all ears.

Go for it !! The kid cant have but a few points to loose. When the snow hits it should push them down low for you. Get some maps learn the area hope for some good luck and cross a good one. Its not going to happen if you wait and sit home. ;-)

Hey I had that tag in 09 how did you guys do on that hunt? Just wondering what ares you know, probably don't habe any secrets to help you out, but good luck.

Do you remember the Mom and daughter that were on Roughinit Outdoors that year they shot a 350 bull and the daughter shot a 370 bull with Mossback. Well the 370 bull we hunted him for three days until they got him. My brother ate tag soup that year not because of lack of bulls just not the one he wanted.

After seeing that 370 bull it was hard for him to shoot 300 to 320 bull.

How did you do?

And yes Zigga I love Beaver!!!!!!!!!!!

Yes I saw those bulls, I did pretty good I killed a 372 bull the first day. I got lucky there were 5 other hunters after the same bull and I just happened to be in the right place at the right time. I did see some other nice bulls that year but nothing like the one I shot. That is some awesome, rugged country down there but you will have a great time. Just make sure the kid enjoys the hunt, don't let anyone ruin it with a tape measure.

A late Beaver is never good!

Hey Horseguy

I would love to see a pic of your bull, if you can post it here. Nice job on a great bull!!!!!!!

As for the areas we hunted, Gold Gulch, Sulpherdale and Southcreek.

Lets see if this works.

Here are the bulls I was talking about.

We had this bull (the one the young lady shot) at 500 yds. and let him walk, we thought we had him all to our selves and could get him closer within a few days. Well that didn't work so well as you can see.
