trail cameras causing second thoughts

I shot a cow on labor day, easy shot, easy pack and the freezer is full of the best meat. But I made the mistake of leaving a trail camera on a wallow through Mid Oct.

This is an over the counter area in Idaho that we are usually tickled to get any elk with a bow. Next year I might not be as quick on the release.

Man that is a nice bull. Good tines all the way up. I know where I'd have a stand next year. Good luck!

ouch! hate it when that happens! Great bull, congrats on the cow and good luck getting that bad boy next year!

It has two different six points. You can tell from other pics that he is much heavier than the other and has a bigger whale tail. I would love to sit it. I had sixty five pics during shooting light over the last two weeks of sept. Stand placement will be a challenge. Its off a ridge in a small bowl that the wind swirls constantly. I may just have to go roll in the wallow myself before sitting.

Sounds like you may be hangin a stand over 20 feet in a tree to hunt that area? I would shimmy up over 20' to have a shot at a bull like that one! Great pics! Love the spot!

Just get your shot before he gets sucked into that bottomless wallow. Not fun guttin one after the mud bath
Nice pics

actually my first bull was an archery five point that died in a bog under a root system. I shot him right at dark and wasn't sure where or if I even hit him. We never found the arrow or any blood and decided to come back in the a.m. I almost had to stand on him to see him when we found him the next morning. Thank goodness we had a block and tackle in the truck, he was suctioned in that mess well beyond what two guys could budge at at all. Kept the meat cool though. nhttp://www.monstermuleys.info/photos/user_photos/7101bry_bull.jpg

I killed a spike with my bow from my treestand and while I was giving him his time still sitting in my stand 2 cows, a 4 point a 5x6 and a 6x6 came in and got drinks, hung out for about 10 minutes and then walked off... I climbed down and retrieved my SPIKE!

As much as I'd love to by another tag I'm trying to save pennies for a Utah tag one of these days, and I got a moose last year and cow this year. So I would have to buy another freezer with the tag.

Never saw them, but I fillde my tag on labor day. Even without a tag I would have been in the woods more, but we inherited a used german short hair mid september that kept me busy.
