I just got back to work and saw my post went crazy. The post is locked up so I had to repost. I guess the term front wrap was not clear enough. The term should have been H3. I just thought when i talked about bases that it would have been clear. I guess that was my bad. I have thick skin so i dont really care if some guys dont think that it scores that high. There was alot of post that guess it higher than it was. If some of U guys dont think that it will score over 180 I want to go hunting with U so I can shoot those crapy ole 180 bucks U let go. Like I said it was for fun and I used that pic cause i knew most would guess low. In the pic the horns look light colored because it was dark outside but if U hold the horns in person they are black as U will see antlers. So i guess all and all it was a good post because I made some of U muley nuts like myself guess a ways off.Like i said before if I was looking at this buck on a puter and never seen it in person I would have guessed mid 180s so i know how some may think it was over scored by me and a offical scorer.

Aaron,

First of all, great deer and congrats to your friend on taking him. I am not in any way trying to take away from his accomplishment.

If you are refering to his H3 measurement as his "front wrap" I cannot for the life of me see how its almost 7". His H3 measurement appears to be his weakest mass measurement. At almost 7 inches you would have a difficult time getting your hand around it. The hunter has his hand completely wrapped around the beam at the H2 measurement and it appears larger than the H3. I think that this is where some of the confusion comes in. And as you have already stated, the picture is not very good, the hunter is holdng the deer out away from his body and the face is chopped off, this typically makes deer look larger than they really are and even at this angle its difficult to see where I am off.

You said that you measured him, please post the measurements so guys like me can see where we are off.

Thanks,

Drummond

I dont have a score sheet in front of me but maybe the h3 is the wrong wrap. Behind the front fork is were i am talking about. And yes the smallest part is where U measure i know this. If the h3 is the wrong one I am sorry for the mess up. I am not a offical at scoring that is for sure i just score a couple heads a year for fun but it was measured by a offical scorer. My score was acually less than what the offical score came out but very close. No i am not going to post a score sheet up this is not school time. I scored it last Oct so i cant remember all the mesurements to a T. I think the main beams are about 25 inches and inside was close to 25 i think. The forks on this deer is were he scores good and the mass. I shot a 180 buck this year with my muzz and this deer is much better than mine.Any body in N Cal wants to see it for real it might be able to be aranged. I am not trying to blow smoke up anybodys U know what but that is what it scores.
