Well the hunt came to an end yesterday for my brother in law. What a fun hunt is was. Lots of scouting, lots of frustration and then a lot of help from fellow members on here. We would like to thank Lance(busckgonewild) Ron (Bohnt1) and hossblur for the information and the helped that we received on this hunt.

Now for the story. We started yesterday out with high expectations of getting a bull. The day before we had seen many bulls but weren't able to get close and then the weather that moved in was horrible. When we got to our glassing spot the next morning we found a herd of 15 bulls in a lcearing, but one problem, there was another hunter about 00 yards below them. We waited to see what this hunter was going to do before we decided to make our move. To our surprise the hunter didnt even see the elk above him and he drove off. We then took off to the mountain where we seen them and tried to make the stock. We came into high and got busted by them and Tom was not able to make his shot. We hiked back out pretty frustrated, because we were so close but couldn't close the deal.

After we had a bite to eat Ron said he wanted to glass some more and we stayed right above where another herd was. Tom and I decided we were going to try and make a stalk on them. We told Ron to watch for us and to direct us to them. There was so much down fall we could hardly see 100 yards in front us and that was what was going to hurt us. As we were getting closer Ron was telling us we were right on top of them and we still couldn't see them. Then all of the sudden the mountain erupted and 150 elk took off. Again frustrated and we had to hike back out.

Ron called on the radio and said there was two more bulls that he had seen while glassing. Tom said he wanted to get a bull that day, so he said lets go fricken get one. I had to laugh. We made our stock on these two bulls up the mountain. As we got to the trees where he was going to shoot from we couldnt find the bulls. We were only able to see the cows. After about 5 minutes the herd got spoke and ran right out into the opening. Tom fired two shots in a row and we didn't know where they were hitting. We finally told him to aim right at his shoulder and the next shot hits it mark. The bull walked ten yards and was standing there and we told him to put one more in him. He did and the bull dropped. Lots of high fives and woohoos later and Tom finally got his bull.

My brother in law was stoked for his first elk ever. Couldn't have ended any better. Thanks again for the help!!
