Had a picture sent to me of a MONSTER typical whale tail. My guess score is around 420.

Nope he doesn't score 420 Heck I can't even see him. LOL

My brother in law and I were on this bull when the kid shot it across the canyon about 100 yards from us. We had one more ridge to go and we were there. We went over and help them with the bull. He is an outstanding bull for the late hunt but he is no where near 420. Congrats to him. he said the only other elk he has ever shot was a spike.

Once again congrats on your great bull

wildwest0801,
A lot of folks would have been upset they didn't get that bull. I love the fact you helped out even though someone else harvested him, that was ?big League?.
Congrats to the hunter who did, he is a toad.

Those are some great Whaletails and great tine lengths.
Very nice looking rack and it will make a outstanding mount.

Tough to score from only one pic but I wouldn't be surprised if he stretches the tape to 400.

I want to see more pics of that bull.

I don't think there is any other quality so essential to success of any kind as the quality of perseverance. It overcomes
almost everything, even nature.

Hey Sniper1 my brohter-in-law passed on a lot of bulls and ended up eating his tag. He had a great time and saw a lot of bulls. It was a really fun hunt. he was down there for the whole hunt.

Thanks for asking

I would guestimate 21" ones, 20" twos, 18" g3's, 20" swords, 14" g5's, 55" beams, 60" mass, and 37" inside spread.

That comes out to a score of about 393 plus or minus 5 inches. That bull is a solid 390 bull and could very easily go over 400 inches. If those beams are 58" and his g3's are actually 20 inches as the side profile suggests then he is over 400"

just my two cents but I would put that bull on the the ground first day of any hunt anywhere in north america including the san carlos indian reservation.

I have puke in my mouth as i say this:)
But I agree with stinky.
Shooter anywhere any time.
Great bull.

My Bro in law took that pic!!! This thread hurts look at it a lot!!!! Thanks agin to My Bro in law and father in law put a lot of miles on the boots down there my favorite place to hunt and hope to be back next year chasing deer... Hard to fill your tag after being so close u hear the bullet hit the bull before the crack of the rifle I will say the kid did some good shooting though I think he hit it five out of his seven shots from a long ways out with his 270... There were a lot of pics taken of that bull hope they pop up even though I wished the outcome would have been in my favor that slamer had to die and I am glad I got to see it unfold!!! Regardless of the score he is a stud!!! Hope to see more pic...

Gotta love the Rock Pile!!!

Chubchub, I heard the story from my dad last night after we compared pics. That's a raw deal for sure! Only in utah!

He looks like he will score over the 400 mark, I don't doubt the score one bit. What a bull.
I would be heart broke too being only seconds away from shooting him.

That is a awesome bull great fronts, looks to me like he should do well in the books congrats

My guess G1-20" G2-18" G3-18" G4-23" G5-18" total mass 60" main beams total 120" and spread 40" puts him at 414 gross if both sides are symmetrical.

First off congrats to the hunter that is a great bull!!

Stinky I think your close but just a little long on a few of your measurements. I get a gross 380 when I add up my estimates. Look at 412elkkiller's bull in the other post that is a 400" typical bull and this bull is just a little smaller on each measurement from that bull.

Not wanting to tear down anyone's trophy I am just throwing my 1/2 cent into this post. Shooter anyday!!!

I touched this bull with my hands on the mountain I have no idea how to score but if this helps u guys I would say his front three on both sides r 16 to 19 inches thirds were the smallest of the three main beam my guess is 52 on the rest not sure other then the mass the pictures dont do justice to how heavy he was!!! HEAVY!!!!!! half way up his fourths I couldnt touch my fingers together width 35 to 40 somewhere in there knowing that what u score guys come up with serious I am interested to know???

I think the left beam could be around 57" and his right around 51" now. His 3rds could very well be around 15" but his fronts are equal to every single bull I have with 20" fronts. I cant back off the number. Inside spread I will say is 36" to 38", mass is definitely at least 60".

You shoulda seen the bull my friend guided his hunter to in utah this year. nearly 30" 3rds 23" fronts i think it had 26" swords and just looked like a monster and he only scored 408". Then I see bulls killed that score legitimately 410 and they look half as big as my friends bull. Every bull is unique and its just to hard to tell for sure. Whatever that bull scores is neither here nor there. He's a toad no matter how you slice him.

I'm no expert but I was just comparing with my bull and I think he will gross around 403 either way scores are one thing but the memories are greater awesome bull
