CO Snow

How much will the storms this year affect the upcoming hunting season in CO. Have to check. Would hate to blow my points on a hunt if the winter kill is heavy. First post to this site. I have really enjoyed reading all the comments. I accidently posted in the elk forum. I am more concerned about the deer.

Thanks

If you hunt the Front Range, Eastern Plains, or SE Colo it doesn't look very good for deer. The conditions were super droughty with horrible browse conditions going into the winter. Now that there is a lot of snow it is even worse and I've found quite a few dead deer. From what I've heard the conditions aren't nearly as bad in Central and Western Colo but keep your fingers crossed!

Thanks for the response Jims. I thought it looked bad and I don't want to waste points on a hunt. I have 9 points for deer. I have waited too long to lose them on a so so year. Thanks again

Big Timber,

Western Colorado is below average in snow fall this winter so far. We have had some below average cold temperatures. The Wife and I were in the Ridgeway/Telluride area today and the animals we saw were in good shape. February and March will be the months that make or break it on the western side of the divide. As Jims said the eastern side has gotten hammered.
