Late Cache Elk Hunts?

Just wondering how the late hunts went for everybody with tags? Both the North and the South. Makes it tough when they close the roads on the 15th, and the hunt ends on the 20th!

I was on the north with my dad. We saw a lot of elk but nothing bigger than your average 5 point. We had several bulls located the night before the hunt, nothing bigger than a pretty good 5x6 and the storm came in and dumped a bunch of snow on us and the bulls were no where that we had previously found them. We saw probably around 100 elk, a lot of raghorns. Was fun to see a lot of elk but i think they have pretty much ruined the cache units with the number of tags they have these days. pretty disappointing.

IHuntNUtah, that storm messed the hunting up for sure on the opener! Could not see a thing all day saturday. And that next storm put the nail in the coffin for the last few days, unless you had a sled.

I was able to kill a decent five point on thursday. The weekend before the hunt i was able to find several big bulls. After all the snow came they mostly seemed to disappear. I passed on several bulls the first weekend thinking they wouldn't go far but couldn't turn them up again. But the bull we ended up killing i am very happy with and we had to work our buts off so there will be the memories that i will always have.

Don't be afraid to live for fear of dieing.

Horse hunter, sounds like you had a good time, that's what counts! Which hunt were you on north or south?
