This post similar to BillyBobB. I recently had a tremendous hunting season taking my biggest mule deer Buck (big 4x4)to date in Nevada and a large 5x5 Bull Elk on the General Muzzleloader Any Bull Hunt. With that being said, my good friend and I have East Canyon Summit Cow Elk tags.
I am not going to use my tag, as quite frankly, there is no way my family could eat that wild game (wife and two girls).
My friend, however, has gone through some real tough times. He has recently gone through a divorce, filed for bankruptcy, and has been looking for a job. He loves to hunt and hasn't big game hunted for two years. I bought the tag for him. My goal is simple, go with him and get his elk.
When we applied for the unit (he left the decision up to me), I thought there were a few public places up East Canyon to hunt, but it turns out they aren't in the unit. I haven't broke the news yet to him that I don't have a clue where to go, since most of the unit is private.
Any help would be greatly appreciated. I would even be willing to pay for a private access fee for him. Any public land ideas would also be appreciated.
