I'm going to be staying with friends in Kaycee this fall.. I would like to try for my first elk. This will be a cow elk tag in 33 or 129 if I draw. Any suggestions on which unit might be better. I can hunt some private in 129 that has a few elk. Not sure about unit 33. Thanks Brian.

why not go bull in 129 its a general tag shgouldnt be to hard to get the liecene

He probably isn't good enough to get a bull and wants to get a cow.
I know there's enough bull on this site Elk assin, however you are partially right. I have never elk hunted so therefore I'm not going to donate $600 + for a bull tag. I donated $500 dollars for other tags last year and never was able to come to Wy due to a death in the family. I'll start small and maybe won't get burned as bad this time. Thanks for your input though as helpful as it was.
I'm primarily going to WY to fill my Max pt Antelope tag and thought I would get my feet wet on a cow elk. My friend will help locate a cow but I'm not sure he'll give up his bull spots and I don't know if I even want to hunt Bull Elk in that unit. I plan I applying for Elk pts this year for a bull tag in the future.
