October 2006 was the 4th year in a row for our bunch from Texas to hunt in South East Montana. The deer we found did not carry the mass of our 2005 deer but no one was complaining. Hopefully with some moisture year 5 will be even better. The first is my step father's deer.

The second deer was taken by a family friend.

This is my post

I've just pissed in my pants.......and nobody can do anything about it.

No outfitter, it's a private land connection. Here are some pics of the 2004 and 2005 deer. First, my step brother and I with our 2004 bucks. We only drew two tags that season.

The next is my step brother's 2005 deer. My step father missed a couple of nice bucks that year. The last is my 2005 buck.

i've hunted southeast montana a couple times the last few years and i know how hard it can be to get drawn. just wondering which tag you are getting? general combo, landowner-sponsored, etc.

Congrats on some nice bucks.

You guys most be going the landowenr sponsored route, or you guys are some of the luckiest guys around when it comes to drawing deer tags.

My brother has applied for a deer tag for 7 years and drawn one time. Hopefully this year will be his second tag and he can come out and hunt with me.

Is there much hassle to the landowner sponsor route? I have thought about it for my brother.

I am sure you guys already know this, but thought I would add it since I can't see any blaze orange in the pictures. MT requires blaze orange. Wardens will stop you for it and that will ruin a good day hunting.

Good job on some nice bucks.

We have been going the land owner sponsor route. It requires a few more signatures but doesn't seem to be too much trouble. The burden falls on the land owner to keep records and report the hunters results each year to stay eligible. With 600 or more acres, one sponsored tag is guaranteed, beyond that goes into a drawing. We make sure to have all the required square inches of hunter orange. It just comes off for the photo shoot. :)

Thanks for the info. I have a friend who owns a big place that I get to hunt and he offered to sponsor my brother. Seemed like a big headache, but maybe not.

Happy Hunting!
