Anybody know Unit 61 in CO ?

I'm considering a bow hunt for muleys, I have the points that are usually needed. I believe access is not too bad, and I see the average success is good. What kind of terrain is it, can you spot and stalk, what is the hunting pressure, what kind of buck are coming out of that unit...

I live in the East so scouting is impossible, but I would get there a couple of days in advance. Any help would be appreciated...

Feel free to PM

Access is good from Motrose or Delta, or from HWY 141. There are a good numer of nice bucks, typicals and non-typicals I hear of several deer over 190" every year. You can hunt from higher elevation (9000')dark timber and quaken aspen groves down to the low country with P-J and sage or agricultural areas (with permission, naturally). Spot and stalk is the primary method unless you set up a tree stand over water or travel routes. Pressure is light to moderate because all the tags are limited for deer and elk.

Good luck,
Nick

How are ya. I hunted 61 last year during rife season, my family has hunted there for years before it was a draw. I took a monster 5x4 about 275 lbs don't know for sure I had to bone him out right there. I will never draw that unit again the way the point system works so I would be happy to tell you where and what to do.

Tinytim,
Look at Martinc post and over to the right of his name you will see 4 different icons, first is a "double envelope: E-mail, next is a "single envelope: PM, third is a "figure head: name of person if it is activated. Just click on that "single" envelope and type your message to Martinc and only he will see it and he can reply back to you the same way.
To find your PM, when you log in the first page up is the Main Forum page and you will have a small RED FLAG at the top left edge saying you have an Inbox Message. Look over to the right in amongst the different items listed and look for INBOX and clcik on it, presto your reply from him.
Good luck on your hunts and welcome aboard here at MM.

Brian
