Circleville UT Elk slaughter

The big game board today took 5 elk bull tags off of the divisions recommendations from Beaver elk unit due to the elk shot last week in Circleville. That means 5 sportsman who may have waited up to 20+ yrs for this tag will now have to wait one more, becouse of this event.

For those of you that haven't read the "Horrible" elk post, it has the details of what happened. Long story short a rancher shot by his account 10 bull elk last week because they kept getting into his hay.

Frustrating situation that has now cost 5 hunters tags this year for their dream hunt.

It's a bad situation no doubt.
I understand the landowners frustration as well as the sportsmans loss.
My question is, was the landowner already being compinsated by the CWMU program?

DWR knew this could happen AGAIN why wasn't they doing more to stop the elk from coming on to his place. Fence, sonic boom cannons, spotlighing his fields at night,I'm sure more could of been done to stop the elk from coming in, UNLESS they didn't care or maybe it a cheaper end for them.

I ran into a farmer a couple years ago, elk kept getting into his haystack, so the dwr paid and themselves built an 8 foot tall fence all around his stack. Why couldnt they do that to this rancher as well???

In 1998 we were hunting spikes on the fishlake and on the way home stopped at the only gas station in Circlville. There was a guy in there asking how our hunt went. He then preceded to display his disgust for the elk on his farm and the problems they were causing. He told us how he prefers to shoot them in the guts so that they won't die on his land. I was shocked that he was sharing this with us and decided that he was feeding us full of BS. Hope it wasn't the same guy, that was 14 years ago.

Unfortunatley, My mom went to High School with this A-HOLE. It sounds like he has an anger management problem. People in Circleville are scared to death of this guy and his family. He has threatened fish cops with guns before and other people. He wont put up the fence that was supplied/offered to him. He has been poaching animals with his brothers and family all his life. Once a looser, always a looser!!!

I personally think this man need to go to jail, then get a HEFTY FINE. Then, someone needs to go in there and gut shoot every beef he has and let it die in the middle of his fields while he is in jail, so when he gets out there is a big stinky problem for him to clean up.

This guy threatens the fish cops. The guy for this area asked to be moved/transfered because this guy threatened his life. This guy is a real looser.

Gotta love the internet.

If he had threatened fish cops with guns and has been poaching animals for all his life he would have been prosecuted by now.

Seriously, we might think Circleville is Dodge City of the late 1800s but it isn't.

Sled dog, I stil have family and friends that live in Circleville. My mom was visiting last weekend her family and friends. They might have been lying to her, but who knows. That came stsight from the people that live there. My mom came home this last week and called me and asked if I had heard about the elk being killed. I said I had read a little about it. She told me more than I can tell here. She personaly know this man. She went to school with him. She always thought he was crazy. And PROOF shows he still is. You might or might not be a local, but if the fish cop asked to be transfered because of this idiot, well, there you go. Several locals have said he has done threats by guns. That comes traight from the locals (my family and friends).

So, yes, you have to love the internet because you can let people know what this guy is like.

Threats can get a guy jailed in any state, So why not Utah. Why wouldn't the whole town not press charges against him.
Landon you asking people to kill cows on his land,(Really dumb) What happens if they aren't his cows,Your comments PUTS you in the same car as him in being a A$$ HOLE. IMO

Gator, guess you and your family have never been threatned before. puts you in a crazy situation. You guys that have not lived in small towns dont quite understand. I have uncles and cousins as sherrifs and troopers in southern utah. They had been threatned several times if not more by locals. My one Uncle as the county sherriff got voted out because he start to enforce the laws and got rid of the "good old boys" attitude. Well, he did not last the next term as sherriff.

Plus gator, if you read my post, said kill his cattle in his field. Just a figure of speach, not that I would do it or encourage. Its just how I feel about him feeling its ok to kill 10 mature bulls, THEN AFTER THE FACT, CALLS THE DWR AND TELL THEM TO COME GET THE CARCUS. Lets not get butt hurt here and get all pissy.

You mean I wasn't raised in a big town like Circleville.
My home town is 8 miles away and had a population of 8 we drove a tractor to school sometime (13 miles one way) small family (12)
Now I live in a town where my next door ASS-hole is a gang member.
Threated by them or them to by me. LOL
We been there for the F&G not doing nothing to help with the problems of too many deer in the fields, so you are preaching to the choir.
My family are all farmers and ranchers and I know for a fact if they was losing money by too many animals eating in those fields they would be on that same bus this guy is on.Why should he lose money.
DWR can either buy him out or kill all the elk that come down to those fields, Because if he don't want to open and shut gates the rest of his life to get and out of his fields he really don't have too. You all can put it on him if you want, But it DWR problems on keeping those deer and elk alive, they aren't his problem. I believe he is taking care of his part in the problem.
