I found another pile of old time pics of my great grandpa and his gang from the 50's in Idaho. Here are a couple. Enjoy!!!

They hunted with .30-.30's back then.

Here is one his buddy got. I think their secret was the pipe smoking.:)

Awesome pictures! I wish I could get my horse to pack them out like that!

Yep if you mean the funny captians hat, that is on my great gramps. I don't know where or why he has that thing on but it's in every picture. Those guy's were tough back then. The trail sytem they used to get to this area is 10 miles of shale rock and cliffs.

YEA! Don't tell anyone, pipe smoking works!

A little Captain Black will bring in the bucks for miles around.
Those a great photos, thanks for sharing.

Those pics are awesome, I especially like the ones wiht the 30-30s. I have a thing for lever guns.

Looks to me like gramps has a 300 or 250-3000 savage. I've got both of those guns from my great uncle in take down versions. Neat old guns.

Thank you for sharing those photos. I like the hat the one gentleman is wearing. I think it was a combination of the hat and pipe.

Captain's Hat and Leotards.....Just kidding but them pants sure are tight around his legs...LOL
Great old b/w photo's are the best.

Yes i know those pants are hilarious and he has the same gettup on in every pic for years. Mr. Tights aka grandpa later became a senator and busted his arse for protecting wild areas and hunting opportunities.

Good friends, good horses and good country.Doesnt get much better than that.

Glad your great grandad and his buddys took the time to capture these photo's,they sure are fun to look at. Wish I could travel back in time and go hunting with them.

Agreed, that one on the left is a savage model 99. Most of those that I know of were in .300 savage or .308. A model 99 300 savage was my first rifle. I don't hunt with it anymore, but it still shoots groups that touch at 100 yards.

Kicker, thanks for the awesome old time pics. Two of my favorite posts in recent memory. Those pics belong framed in a hunting cabin somewhere!

some don't know how well those old Winchesters and Savages shot!
how did they do on Elk?
I assume they hunted Elk also!

They cleaned up on elk as well. I'll put some of those photos together as well and post em up. They look like civil war boots to me:)

looks like Marlin Brando in that ole 60's motor cycle movie he did...LOL...love the pics

Great pictures. Thanks for sharing. I can't remember the last time I saw anyone hunting with open sights. That sure was a different time back then.

Hey kicker, great pictures just the same... If you have more, I really like to see them. Next time I make it to my parents I'll have to go through the "picture box"...
