dist. 270, is my choice. My favorite is 652, it is a blast to hunt with alot of mulies around. I have drawn 3 tags in the last ten years in 652. My first tag was the first year for block management in the area and it was the best hunt I had in the area, alot of area was opened up that has not been hunted without alot of pressure. There were alot of mature bucks running around, that year I had a new rifle with me and I was not fimilar with it and missed a high 170"/low 180" buck, I sold it and went back to the old .270.
652 has the potential for a B&C head, if the conditions are right i.e. the drought....
I have worked alot of country in 652, and there are alot of mature 4x3 bucks. A guy will have to work hard to find a mature 4x4 buck, but they are there, in 2003/2004 there was a 200+ buck shot in the dist, the genes are there but
Need the right conditions to harvest a great buck in this dist.
Great area for getting a youth started in hunting....
