NM 17

Looking for info on unit 17. I drew the first muzzy hunt and am pretty excited. I am a resident of NM but won't have much time to scout since I am stationed overseas and being transfered back to the midwest this summer. It has been 4 years since I have been able to hunt elk and don't want to miss an opportunity with this great tag to get a nice bull. Appreciate any info you are willing to provide.

I have a buddy that drew the early archery tag. We will be spending time in there scouting and hunting so I should have some good information I can pass to you. I have hunted the unit many yrs and have had success. The elk move around alot in this unit. One year they will be a ton of elk and rutting hard in one area and the next yr there is no sign of elk in the same area. Of course there are areas that have elk most of the time but get hit hard by all the hunters.

This was my first Muzzy kill!!

I got this bull with my son by my side. That is the only reason I shot this bull becuase he was the smallest I had seen in this area! It was still crazy exciting!

I wish I would have shot this bull but he got away! He had long points and was just huge! Not the best picture but it still kicks my ass that I did not get a shot at him.
STAY SAFE OUT THERE AND HAVE A SAFE RETURN HOME!
