Muzzy Beaver Expectations

I drew a Beaver Muzzy LE Elk tag this year. woohoo! With my time off this year I have about 5 1/2 days to get it done with the smoke pole this year. Realistically what size of bull can I expect to see/get? should I expect a 350+ bull for that unit?

You shouldn't expect a 350+ bull in any unit. If you can't scout, and only have 5 days to get it done I wouldn't pass a 330 type bull. Unless your ok with the possibility of tag soup?

Sounds like you need a good guide or outstanding luck. I guide on the Beaver and know where some huge bulls are but it has taken me years of guiding, hunting and scouting to learn where they are and where they will be when the hunt starts. Anyone that cannot afford a guide should spend time each year on the unit they are applying for during the hunt dates to learn where the elk will be. Scouting early will tell you what is there but not where it will be once the rut starts.

I drew with 10 pts. I've been hunting the unit since 2005, and I'm very familiar with the unit, and definitely will be up there on the summer weekends. Of course I'd like a 350+ bull, but I'm happy to plug a 330. just hope my luck continues.

On that unit, and since you used 10 points to draw, I would say you should expect to see at least two 400 class bulls a day.
Lol
All joking aside, I say don't worry about the size, hunt hard and shoot the first bull that gets your heart pumping.

I'll tell you who it was . . . it was that D@MN Sasquatch!
