Mt Dutton Archery Elk Help

I finally drew a tag!! My first LE!! Now all I think about is elk! But..I have never hunted this Unit and don't know where to even start. Any help would be greatly appreciated!!

I drew the tag as well. How many points did you have? I have never personally hunted it except for the lower end for antelope. I have a lot of friends and family though that have spent some time over there the last few years. Every time i talk to one of them the first thing they say is "get in shape". It will be a tough hunt but it should be fun. Good luck!

Ill be spending some time down there this year, A close buddy of mine drew with 3pts. my dad drew in 09 with a smoke pole. we ended up taking the smallest bull we saw on the last day. scored 343

Start now learning the road systems, don't even bother looking for elk......they will show up when you need them to ;-)

I got luck and pulled the tag with 0 points. I had the dutton antelope tag last year.

I spent a lot of time down there last year with a good friend, "davtaiv" who had an archery tag. I would recommend hunting hard the last week of the hunt and don't burn yourself out at the beginning. You are in for a lot of fun and yes, you need good boots.

It's a tough hunt, I agree wait until later in the hunt to really hunt. I live on the unit I maybe can point u to a couple places if u need. If u get one down and need help with the pack out I can help out there too. Just let me know
