Deer Mount Suggestions

Hi guy's,

I'm currently working with my taxidermy on determining what type of mount would be best for my 202 gross and 192 6/8ths net AZ strip buck. I've posted several pics of the buck that was harvested before on MM (previous link of buck has been provided, http://www.monstermuleys.info/cgi-b..._thread&om=11175&forum=DCForumID6&archive=yes).

I thought that asking the MM members would be best as members could provide me with their recommendations and photos of their mounts :) If you have a moment and would like to share what to look for in a quality mount, and what type of mount works best, it would be greatly appreciated.

Nice buck Bucher, I would go with an upright offset shoulder, not quite 90 degree right turn, swelled neck. It will show off that left kicker real nice. This form can be found through Research Mannikins in Lebanon, Oregon. Hope this helps.

My personal preference is to display my deer in the same pose as when they were shot. For example, if hes caught you and has both ears out and facing you with head held high, that is how I would prefer. If you have an outstanding side, or point to show off, like your deers left side, I would posture the mount slightly to his right to show it.

Beautiful buck, especially for a first deer! Congrats!

Every single animal I have mounted was in the actual live position when I shot it. A good Tax will cut and paste if needed to make it right. They don't always fit the standard mold. For the price expect what you want. A good one will gladly make the adjustments you want. (If needed) Many times a different company will have the form you want. Have several Whiteys with MD necks and WT head/faces. Have one MD with dremel tool grooves along his jaw to match the live (actually dead) photos. For 5-6 hundred clams a good Tax will gladly add the detail. Also a dang nice reminder of the hunt.

The buck in the middle is my 2006 utah archery buck. It has a hook cheater similar to yours. The mount is a semi sneek with the deer's head turned to it's left to emphasize the hook cheater. It's head is slightly down with his neck swollen. I love the mount and if I was going to do it over I wouldn't change a thing. I hope this helps.

P.S. That is a NICE buck. What are his mass measurements?

Sweet! Semi sneak, glancing left. What ever you do, It's going to look great. Congrat's.

Left turn, semi sneak, maybe head slightly altered down. That shows the good front on the Right side, the hook on the left, the cheat on the right and will bring the height out. I would go to my taxidermist and ask to put the antlers on different form styles and turns.

I only have a couple of deer mounted. The reason I like this first one is because of the ear position. The Taxidermist tried to hide the ears as much as he could, I don't like ears. The ear position on this buck, for me is perfect.

I just got this deer back. The taxidermist that did this one didn't understand what I meant by trying to hide the ears. Although I think he did a great job, and I am happy with the deer. Ron
