Has anyone see much for elk in the Monte Cristo area. If so what time of year do they come through. I was up there last year during archery season and saw alot of old sign at least I thought it was elk sign, could have been moose. Not looking for any details just if they are around in october. I know this wont get many responses since not many people like to help others in Utah but a guys gotta try.

I have a little experience on Monte Cristo during the archery season. There are some elk there, but nothing to get excited about. I've never seen big herds, but then the archery season is pretty early. Single or groups of 2-4 are pretty much the norm. Good luck!

LOTS of elk on MONTE CRISTO......the year i hunted it i saw 8 bulls on opening morning...6 in one group, had plenty of time to go find my brother when i cut their tracks in the snow...we both killed bulls, ran into 2 singles while packing them out.... same brother got into multiple mature bulls while on a youth hunt.

Zeke I said not to many people like to help, not all are like that. This is just what I have experienced since I was stationed here a year ago. I have had a select few that were very helpful and responsive to older posts.
