Could you guys post up some photos ? Big , medium , small it'll all help , with score. Have a special tag I want to make the most of . Scores not all that important to me just want to make sure what I'm looking at before I squeeze the trigger , hopefully .

Thanks , it is appreciated .

I've always said that "score" really doesn't matter to me. If they look big then shoot. I sometimes score the bigger ones just to compare but I don't let the tape tell me if I had a good hunt or not.

Here's a couple.

Wifes 2006 bull. 382" gross

Where's your tag?
What kind of bull are you looking for?

Good luck. I hope these help you.

Those are some beautiful bulls your family took Zeke. If the bull looks big enough and strikes you fancy then who cares what they score.

Eldorado

The tag is in California . Pretty tough to draw and some impressive bulls have been coming from the unit .

The pictures are great . Thanks

Here's a 285 P&Y net bull and a 357 3/8 net rifle bull taken by friends out where we hunt in Wyoming.

Is very important to shoot the elk so it never falls over. Very important. If the elk makes contact with the ground then the horns will instantly shrink by 20-80 inches before you can approach. Trust me.

Sheepshooter,

Congrats Steve on the Cali Elk tag...which one did you draw?

Not my biggest nor smallest bull i have taken. thought i should this bull; scoring at a distance can be tough. i got him 17 miles in the back country. spotted him over 2 miles away. at that distance i judged him at 350ish. after getting up on the bull after a couple of hours i shot him. then i soon found out he was far off from 350.

oh well i worked hard for him and thats all that counts. i would gross him at 315-320.

That is an outstanding tag.My Boss three years ago. He harvested a 360 class Bull. My Uncle and a friend drew it two years ago. My Uncle harvested a 350 class and the friend got a 380 class. It is a tag of a lifetime, make no mistake you will have to work for them. One of the best places to hunt was private forest land that has been closed to hunting this year. I will try to post pictures of my Uncles and friends bull

HOLY SMOKES ! What a beast . The pictures of your Uncles isn't coming up for me .

I'm guessing with Pondosa being closed more people will be pushed to the DG and the Warner's .

Thanks for the pictures !

LAST EDITED ON Aug-09-12 AT 10:41PM (MST)[p]That's what I thought till I finally put the tape to it. His main beams are not real long only 42, and the backs are weak. He scores right at 295. But I was sure glad when he walked right into our bugles on the 2nd to last day of the hunt.

He was an angry bull too, he didn't have a harem so he took all the frustration out on the little quakes where he lived. The whoe area was wrecked, and he came in hot, really pissed another bull might be in his bedroom.

Yep, DG and the Warner's are the best bet. Still some public land around Pondosa that holds some elk.

Even though I know the score, I'm gonna do it for practice.

G1 13
g2 13
g3 12
g4 14
g5 8
mass 26
main 42 (known)
--------------
total 128 X2
--------------
sub 256
width 38

Total 294 Thanks , nocwalker

Pretty dang close! His right g-1 is shorter only 10 inches, then his g-3s are both 15 do there you go 295 total. You did an awesome job on that one.

I will post another one that my brother in law shot 2 years ago and see how that one goes.
