My wife and I both drew tags for Unit 70-1 for Bull Elk.
Does anyone have any info on this unit that they can share with us?
Thanks

Umm.. good luck?? I have seen one bull in that unit. Personally, it is not on my list of units to ever hunt elk. They are few and far between.

Yikes! Thats not what I wanted to hear!! haha! I have heard good things about Soda Springs area and the Malad area... guess I will have my work cut out for me :)

I wouldnt waist time in 70 myself. Soda is your best bet IMO. The animal patterns have changed due to predators. If you can get a local farmer or rancher to help you out on when and where the elk are at, it will help alot. I have talked to Ranchers in the past on different hunts. They always know where the critters are due to riding checking cattle, fences, ect.

Yeah that is what I am planning on doing. I grew up in Oakley Idaho but have been in Utah for the last 10 years and just moved back to Idaho Falls area this year. Units have changed quite a bit in the last 10 years. Thanks for taking the time to give your input. Every little bit helps! It takes a lot of homework to have a successful hunt now days!

LAST EDITED ON Jul-01-12 AT 05:30AM (MST)[p]if mink creek is not on fire, take a look over there...
oxford peak north will also hold elk
