I was wondering if any of you guys have pictures of any deer taken on the elk ridge unit, and post the date, I want to see if anything good has come from there recently.
Thanks,

YOU'RE JOKING RIGHT???

THERES A COUPLE LEFT!!!

BUT IF YOU THINK THIS IS A TROPHY SHOOT YOU NEED TO MAKE A TRIP DOWN & CHECK IT OUT!!!

COULD BE A GREAT AREA!!!

ITS BEEN A GREAT UNIT AT TIMES!!!

BUT THANKS TO POOR MANAGEMENT & 12 OTHER REASONS IT AIN'T WHAT YOU THINK!!!

IF YOU HAVE A PERMIT GOOD LUCK!!!

THE ONLY bobcat!!!

No, I had a tag a couple years ago, I shot a 175ish buck, but was very disappointed in the unit, lots of crappy deer on the unit, I just got lucky.
I just wanted to see if there has actually been some nice bucks taken from the unit in the last decade or so, if there has been any.
Thanks

Not the buck that I waited 9 years to draw for, but oh well, biggest one that I have taken. Some people still say elk ridge is a great unit, but the year I shot this buck I beleive there was only one killed bigger that year, I might be wrong. But the other rifle hunters I talked to had filled their tags with little 3x3, a 3x4, 18 inch 4x4, deer that you can shoot regularly on a general season unit.

Wow cantkillathing,

Congratulations!
I think that your buck is the best buck,I've even heard of coming off of that unit. For at least the last 15-20 years.
A guy that I went to school with had that permit in 2002 or 2003
his buck was a 20-21" 3x4 on the last day.
When did you have your permit?????
According to him it was a tough hunt as far as finding anything worth shooting. He said he wouldn't do SanJuan again.
I think that after I get my Elk tag(maybe next year)I will try for the Book-cliffs,it seems to have more potential, recently.

If you are a Bad A Archery dude then I think the San Juan can be a fun one for big buck.. Any other season and you are having a good Crap Shoot at very average bucks. Once the bigger bucks leave the roadsides (after archery season) then it is almost useless.

Rammu,

Have you hunted this unit before???
If so what weapon was it????
What year????
would it be worth a return???

Elksnuffer.. If I had an archery tag I would for sure go back. I love the country down there. As you can see if you Live there and it is your back yard then there are some big boys to be had. the Blacks live there and they pretty much rule the roost on them hills. I think Archery is the ticket there..
