What do you suppose he was listening to on the radio when he spotted that buck? Maybe it was John Tesh or The Three Tenors.

I would say 174 (including the shed antler on his neck). Width is 25 outside.

I actually know the story. I'll just give the short version.

The year was 1993. The State was Utah and TK spotted the buck first and emptied her gun while the buck just stood there, so you shot it. You were driving a 1966 VW hippie van, in Tortise Green color. The Mammas and Papas "California Dreamin'" playing on the 8-track. The number of miles to actually tag the buck was over 40 because you had to go to town and buy a tag after the kill. You had a flat tire on the way. By the time you got back the 10 people in your party had given up and gone home leaving you to pack it out yourself. And I can tell you're still upset about that!

Actually, I know the story behind this awesome buck. The deer was spotted by a mini-mossback who was having lunch at the Golden Corral in Cedar City Ut. The day was October 26th 1996. TripleK was slinging sodas and Roy was washing dishes in the back of the restaurant. The buck was actually a high ? fence buck that was trapped in the K-Mart parking lot about 75 yards south of the Golden Corral. Roy ran out of the restaurant and grabbed his 30-30 from behind the seat of his 1981 Chevy LUV and gut shot the buck. Reruns of the Reverend Roy radio show were playing Kenny Gee music on the restaurant's speaker system. The buck was green scored at 22 3/8? wide, 18? main beam by the mini-mossback. The total score was 131 ?. The mini-mossback demanded a $1500.00 finders fee but settled for the tips TripleK had collected that day, $3.27.

What do I win?

Hee hee hee! It probably WAS Richard Simmons! "I'm a Pony! I'm a Pony!" lol

Roy's not a road hunter at all. We've always hunted on horses, actually. But, with this buck, he just happened to spot the buck while he was driving to where he was going to get out and go hiking around. No horses that time.

Good call on the music though, Nunya! lol

In all honesty, if that is a Cedar Mountain buck, it's a doosey! Best guess 27 1/2" inside, total score 165. I'm really interested in knowing if it was killed north or south of SR14. Personally, it's on the wrong side of I15 anyway.

<smile> RUS

ITS DEFINATELY GOT SOME OF THAT SOUTHERN RADIATION FOR SURE!!!

AN EXTRA MAIN BEAM OFF THE BACK OF HIS NECK!!!

27-1/2"???

WTF RUS???

TAKE YOUR MAGNIFYING GLASSES OFF!!!

THE ONLY bobcat THINKING THINGS MIGHT BE GETTING BAD IN THE SOUTHERN REGION???

22" between them big ol' ears, bout' 2 1/2" of antler sitcking out on either side. I say 27 1/2".

Only one way to tell if it's truly a southern region buck....
Turn out the lights & if it glows, it's the real deal. I'd bet my 3rd thumb on it!!!

RUS

Well TK almost ruined it but some of you guys are getting close!
This much is correct so far:

State and region -(TK- Southern Utah - yes this is a Cedar Mountain buck and he does glow in the dark - that's why my son never needed a night light!)

Color and make of Truck (TK - even down to the Bondo spots that were often mistaken for but definitely were not rust!)

# of people in party (TK - 1. Yes I was alone.)

Distance hiked (TK was closest- about 400 yards (tracking included), with a 200 yard drag. No I was not road hunting, just happened to be on a road when I saw him!)

So far, no one has the year right and you are not even close on the song! It was NOT RICHARD FREAKING SIMMONS! But it was country.

Keep on guessing on the rest and I will post the story soon!
