Trinidad Elk Hunting

I have an Elk Hunt coming up in Trinidad Colorado the first part of September. Any one familiar with this area or have hunted it before? Just curious as to what I can expect.

I live in Boncarbo which is 25 minutes north west of trinidad. I personally wont hunt the unit due to poor animal activity. Your best bet for elk would be up by Bear and Blue lake I feel. 80 some odd % of the unit is private land and the public land they give us is very steep, timber so thick you look at it and laugh.
