Score Please

LAST EDITED ON Aug-23-12 AT 01:17PM (MST)[p]That bull looks way less then 340 to me.

His back end LOOKS very impressive. But really it is just average to slightly above average. The reason the rack looks so good from the 4ths back is because his fronts are practically non existent. I had to watch the video 3 times just to see that he actually does have 3rds, and they weren't just broken off.

You will be lucky if that bull breaks 310 IMO.

I know people will argue with me, tell me I am full of chit yada yada. But that is how I see it. . .

Just to back up with some justification for what I am saying. This is a bull that looks very similiar to me. He has a lot of width, better then average main beams, and ok mass. Everything else is average, or below average. He barely scores 300.

Pookie,
I like your bull on the wall and it may be the angle of the picture, but I have a hard time seeing 300" on him. I would guess more like 240-250.

I think the bull in the video is easily a 330ish bull.

I guess it is all speculation when looking at pictures, but the bull in the video looks pretty good to me.

I formed my own opinion from watching the clip 3x before I read anyone's post. I think he'll be just shy of 340". Probably closer to 320-330". The beams are good, the back (top) is good, width is good, the bottom is weak.

Very nice looking bull but honestly a little hard to judge because of the distance and clarity of the clip. I'll stick with my guess awyway.

It is the angle. Hard to tell, but his main beams are really long, and his width is really wide. I can't find the picture with my brother in law standing behind it in the field, but that gives you a better perpective. Those two things are all that make up the score for him.

No offense taken, by the way.

The bull in the video looks bigger than the picture posted above. Especially on his thirds all the way back. I would put him in the 330's - 340's. The video is hard to judge from but, I can clearly see his thirds and his front are not massive but I would not call them week either.

LAST EDITED ON Aug-23-12 AT 05:58PM (MST)[p]whoever posted that picture is dilusional. That my friends is a raghorn. The bull you posted in the video is a stud. He has great g1's (18" roughly), sub average g2's(14"). His g3's are normal. With that kind of flare out those g3's will go about 13 inches which isn't great but better than raggy above. His swords are on the shorter side. I would say around 18". His 5ths are awesome and i would put them at 13". his spread might make 38" if your lucky but I think 36 to 37 is more like it. His beams are solid and I would dare say pushing 53" maybe. His mass is severly lacking so I would put his mass at 52".

If you add all my numbers up you come out with a score pushing 350. I have 5 or 6 350 bulls on my wall and he is comparable. However to compare him with that raghorn posted above is laughable. I have bulls on my wall from 280 to 390. in all I always look at the angles of these bulls and go through my field photos of the bulls I killed while they were still alive and compare. I feel very confident that bull will go over 340". Just my two cents.

IMO, if that bull in the video had longer 3rds, he would have it all. He has great fronts-seem to have a good curl to them. his top end is impressive and width looks good. He looks like a 350 bull to me but I don't field judge very well from an arm chair.

I guess we all can't be as good a hunter as you, but to laugh at a mans' bull is being a complete a-hole. He has a memory and I bet a great story with that bull. You can get your point across without being a jerk.

My bull on the wall scores 299 7/8. I can tell you, I'm one proud son of a #####.

So if we're hearing you correctly, yer agreeing with the other guy, only in a more politically correct way?

They aren't comparable bulls. I just don't see the sense as fellow hunters to be that condescending. That's just me. I take it by your post that you think the way he does. Just asking.

You never want to score a bull that is facing away from you but it looks to me like a solid 320-330 bull. A little weak on the fronts and over all mass but good back end and great main beams...

Not my bull @$$. That was shot by my 16 year old brother in law. And either way, I would like to see the picture of your bull to compare?

Yeah he is insulting a 16 year old kids bull. . . I would like to see the pictures of his bull/bulls then I will believe it.

Bull in Video looks to be a 350 class type bull,I wouldn't pass up a shot on him.

LAST EDITED ON Aug-26-12 AT 01:12PM (MST)[p]I have to agree with terrapatrick. That bull in the video is all of 350 and closer to 365. There's not one point on him less than 14" and he has great beam length. Many bulls look skinny in the white just after they rub. I'd guess his mass to be closer to 55 or 56.

The other bull posted is not even close to a comparison and was the point terra was trying to make if I'm not mistaken.

In any case, here's my guess on that bad boy.

G1 - 18
G2 - 16
G3 - 14
G4 - 20
G5 - 14
Beam - 53
Mass - 27.5
Spread 39

Total = 364

If I'm off by one to two on each point he's still over 340 and has the look I'd be crawling in the dirt the whole season for on any unit in Utah :)

Cheers,
Pete

That bull will score over 340. He isn't the widest bull around, but the tine length is great all around. I would guess around 358-360 gross.

There is really no comparison between the bull in the video and the small bull in the picture. However, it takes a real plick to make three straight post like this newbie did cutting the bull in the picture to pieces. If that was done in person, I can see him picking his teeth and himself up off the ground and he'd deserve it!!!

I would say the bull in the video will gross 352 1/8. Put your tag on him and let's find out for sure. What do I get if I'm the closest?

As for the bull on the wall, I'll just say he's a tad smaller than 352.

Pookiebar congrats on the nice bull you posted. It must have been fun harvesting that bull with your son and dont listen to everyone on here. Any bull you kill with your son in the field you might as well call a 400 incher cause thats how special that bull is to your son and you. Be dam proud of your sons bull and im dam proud of your son for shooting him. Any way the bull in the video is also a nice bull, however he isnt an inch over 330 and probably closer to 320. Still a dandy though , and good luck harvesting him.

most of the guys sayin 330 are nuts. that bull is over 350 probably closer to 360 but hard to tell tines on g2 and g3 for me the rest is great! greats 1's 4's and awesome 5ths for that unit.

I am going to bump my score up to 330- 335. Not trying to knock the bull , but i dont think his main beams are very long. Very light in the mass measurements, weak 5ths, relatively short 3rds, a couple of short firsts and seconds. Again nice bull but it takes alot more than that to hit 350 in my opinion. Maybe im just used to looking at arizona bulls and bulls like that are a dime a dozen. Still would be proud of him, and you should be also. Good luck.
