not sure what I should do here, my buddy has the the early rifle tag and I had some spare time to do some scouting.

but for 2 days in a row, yesterday and today, I'm watching an 8X9 bull, not counting anything anything that is under 8" , he has a few more that are 1-2" long.

both of his 5ths are seriously 30" long!

his fronts are both 18"

normal ,BIG, 3rds
BOTH of his swords are split and over 20"

This is an insane bull!
not just a 400" bull, but A FRIEKIN GIANT MID 400's bull.

what the heck do I do?

450" bull? I think some others on here seen him a few times but they were thinking close to 500 would be more like it. One guy had him at 10yrds and missed...with a rifle. I love bull stories

Shout your trap or someone WILL find him and shoot him before you even know it.

Help your buddy and show him the Bull.

LAST EDITED ON Aug-24-12 AT 08:44AM (MST)[p]30" Fifths? Holy Crap, that would be a sight to see.

If my buddy had the early rifle tag and I found a 400+ bull, I think the first thing I would do is keep it between me and my buddy.

If you are serious about this, you may have just blown it for your buddy.

Seriously, must be a big beaver or fish lake bull. Good luck with the cry wolf thing. Hope they take your bait. If you really are saying the truth then you owe your buddy an apology.

"That's a special feeling, Lloyd"

Ha ha, love posts like this. You either must not be a hunter, or this is a white lie. No one that has spotted a bull like this with a tag would ever share this information until the bull is down. Great call...

I agree with this post being pretty weird. You usually don't brag about a big bull until you put it on the ground. You should take every day off until your buddy's hunt and sleep with that monster on the mountain. If you don't, someone else will and you'll be SOL!

I have a buddy hunting the P right now with archery tag! My buddy kneeds to know where he is! He never seen a bull like that! Rutnbuck

Let's put some $$$ on the Bulls Head!

I'll offer you 250.00 for GPS Coordinates!

I'd like a Picture also!

Post the Pic!

talk about turning a post around?

I was asking for advise-

I am certain no body knows where he's at, or will find him IN THIS SPOT. BUT We could be screwed if he leaves.

I showed my buddy the pictures today and he was shiting bricks!

I didn't tell him where, because any slip of the mouth can ruin it.

We do both understand there is no guarantee he will stay put, especially since he's just with 4 cows.

it's a bull of a lifetime, but with the long odds- would it be worth talking to a big outfitter and doing a little bartering?

for instance, if We show you this bull right now( and he is VERY KILLABLE), in return would you offer your services when are hunt starts to help insure we get on another great bull?

Or do we roll the dice and try to keep an eye on him?

any ideas on what possibilities we have?

Depends on whether you want to try and make a few $$$ or help your buddy out. Or I guess try to make a few $$$ and still try to help the guy out just with a lesser bull.

Reading this has made me think of how the good ole days of hunting are gone. It is so stressful for the vast majority of hunters now a days to kill the biggest rack on the mountain. It is turning into a cutthroat system...

Yes, I love to shoot monster bucks and bulls and keep my spots a secret and put my self under stress when I get a premium tag that I know I may never get again in my life but it sure is fun to just enjoy the hunt/scouting...

Don't put too much stress on yourself or your buddy hanging meat. If its meant to be it will happen. Just keep working hard and see how it plays out. Good Luck.

FYI- you should have never posted about it until you had him or the season is over... hope you don't learn a lesson the hard way...

"Hunting is where you prove yourself"

to those that think I'm hosing my buddy, he is 100% informed and we are deciding TOGETHER!

and yes, I Honestly know for a fact that where he is right now, NOBODY IS WATCHING HIM!
I've spent 20 hours just watching and videoing( on my chitty video camera,) and taking pictures of him.
I am certain that if we had the bow tag that I could easily get within bow range of this bull.

we're calling him "willy" like "free willy", for his GIANT whale tail!

we simply know what the odds of him staying are, and once he leaves ,he will be found I'm sure.

just trying to take advantage of the situation, weather it be hoping he's there for the rifle, or using him to help kill another great bull.

roll the dice and try to kill him! if it doesn't work out hunt hard and you will find another shooter! You sell him out and you will always wonder what if?

Don't sell out for anything! Get your buddy on this bull opening morning and get it done. As soon as you tell one person, the whole mountain will be crawling. The sense of accomplishment in harvesting this bull DIY just you and your buddy will be like no other feeling in the world. Get a guide and outfitter involved, and the glory all goes to them.

I've always believed in putting yourself in a position to get lucky. Sounds like you have that chance. If it works out and you guys kill this bull then you'll be glad you held out!

I do a little guiding and I can tell you this, I'd rather see you and your friend come out with that bull than to see you sell him off.

Hope you guys get him, and good luck getting any sleep.

www.muleybulloutfitters.com

Your first mistake was posting the info on the world wide web.I don't get what the big dilemma is.Don't tell a soul about him.Help your buddy go kill this bull.End of story.

You think you know nobody else has seen him. You may be right, but if it is public land, odds are against it. There are a lot of guys spending an amazing amount of time out there. If you found him, why wouldn't others? Just because you've not seen sign of anyone else about, doesn't mean there hasn't been. Many of us maintain a low profile.

Now that you you've posted the question: no doubt some know who you are, may have seen your vehicle in the area you scout, and will keep an eye out where you head here on out.

Take your friend up there and hunt the bull. If the antlers don't mean a whole lot, then sell the location out and kill another.

Crap you found my bull, I've been watching him since July, I guess I will just have to kill him before you guys do. I thought I was the only one watching him.

we are going to decide tonight on what to do- just watched him all last night- "WILLY" is a brute!

DECIDE???

Are you kidding me? Just KILL HIM. Trust me, giving out info won't bring you a bit of glory. You will get some cash, spend it, and then regret your decision for the rest of your lives.

Keep watching the bull and get your buddy on him opening morning! Should be an easy decision!

LOL I really do wonder how much of a trophy fee someone would pay for that bull? like Mossback or some other outfit? Dont sell out! Hunting is turing more and more into a rich mans sport and its bulls like this and the temptation to barder is what makes it like this, i sure hope you guys kill him yourselves

Just go in and and kill him on opening morning. Then post a picture. I would much rather see a local or or non money hunter take this bull rather than having to see another pic with the famous Mumford or Buford logo attatched to it

Sounds like you have lost your interest in the thrill of the hunt. You have turned this into a business decision. If that's the case sell the bull. One thing is for sure though, if I was your buddy with the tag and you sold out, we would no longer be friends.

one things for sure, if i was your buddy i wouldn't expect you to tell me how or where to hunt......or to feel obligated to 'sell' out your secrets to me....

littlebeaver.jpg

If you dont play this smart your going to blow it.....hide.....dont have your truck any where near...in fact go buy a beater just to not be recognized. I hope your able to kill him opening morning so I can see him....treat this like the lottery and protect him with your life! Bulls like this are a thing of the past and not worth any dollar figure. I cant wait to see pics!

going to take a couple more days.

it comes down to this, we did the work to find a once in a lifetime bull, but there is always a chance he'll leave- we either take the chance he stays, or sell him out IN EXCHANGE for the normal finders fee + guarantee of full help from the outfitters guides to ensure my buddy kills the 370+ bull we set out for.
I don't think it's to much to ask-

but I also think we are counting days before "willy" moves.
he's to big for 4 cows.

and at what point do you get paid?
if I show you the bull in the spotting scope, is it a contract?

I'm not going to consider showing the bull first THEN deciding if it's worth it.

If it comes down to it, we'll wait and see what happens before we get into the bull chit about "maybe" showing someone the bull and getting back stabbed.

So now you want to exchange a 450 for a 370 without getting a dollar? Huh? I don't care if you sell or not, but now you're talking jibberish.

I'm glad I don't live in Utah.If you need the money,I can't blame you for selling out on this bull.Just remember-money is fleeting.Once you spend it-it's gone. That bull on the wall will be forever.

Anyone who thinks hunting isn't turning into a rich man's sport is delusional.Sad state of affairs.JMO.

>So now you want to exchange
>a 450 for a 370

His 370 will look like a PISSCUTTER on the wall after watching a 450 all year. He will regret it for the rest of his life, no matter how much money he gets.

I would say, shut up, stop talking, get a different truck, make sure you aren't followed to the spot, and just go kill the dang thing.

With that said, this is very sad, what has hunting become down there?

I would rather have 5000 wolves and 2000 grizzlies on the landscape, a few scattered dinky bulls and bucks, than have hunting in MT become a crapshow like this.

Money will come and go, killing a 400+" bull is one in a million peoples lifetime. If you kill that bull the memories will be there forever, everytime you look at it, it will remind of the hunt of a lifetime. I would never sale out, everytime you look at the 370" bull, you will be thinking, man I could have killed the 400" monster. The outfitter probably has people following you into the hills now, and you are going to loose the money and the bull. Probably should have kept you mouth shut until it was dead on the ground.

I didn't know hunting out here in Utah was so complicated. Good grief! You guys are way over thinking this stuff.

Sorry, I didn't read properly. You said you would exchange for money and a 370. Whew! Thought you had lost your marbles, but it turns out it was just me!

So what season is your tag good for and how long until it opens.

Mark

My hunting spot is so secret, not even the elk have found it yet.

>+1, same for me here in
>idaho. utah is a joke.
>an embarrassment to the sport

Don't lump this little pud in the same class as the real hunters here in Ut. Remember your glass house there dude. If yours is a blanket statement about ALL of Utah then you obviously don't get out much!
Zeke

>My bet he ends up with
>neither. LOL

+1
Too much blabbing and over-thinking and not enough hunting and killing!

Zeke

I think we are all gettin' punked here!! I still think this whole thread and debate is just somebody who got bored and thought up a way to stir the pot.

What person in their right mind would ever have posted the original post?? Or if you did post the original post, would you ever name the real area where the bull is?

Just a big joke . . .

OK so let's say you decide to sell out for the big dollars, and you take "joe outfitter" and show him in the spotter. What's to say he doesn't just say , "Oh, I already know about that bull", and then you are out the money and your secret spot...
You are not really considering letting a bull of many lifetimes go to someone with lots of $$$$$...
Wow, I have to wonder if you are really a sportsman or just blowing smoke!

I also believe we are getting punked here- no one in his right mind would sell off the opportunity of a lifetime for a lesser bull and money. Probably some zit faced kid, with a bag full of cheetos and pepsi in hand, with nothing else to do but watch mossback videos and type on the computer all day. If not, lets see some pics... (hey, that was me a few years ago)

I'll bet his bull is in a different unit. Good tactic. Just like a broken winged bird leading predators away from the nest.

If you have been watching this bull you should have some video and pictures. That is what you show the guide you want to sell it to!!! And if you do let's have a look??
I call BS

Ok I want this bull 10 grand. Show me a pic! Then if I like the bull and You show him to me in the spotter we have a deal right"?? I am calling BS. First thing you need to do if your going to sell out your buddy. Is put up a pic you can't or you would have. Or put up a pic so we can belive you! Let's see a Pic. Or why can't you post a pic?

Easy guys. He is only considering selling it cuz he thinks it will leave that area and be found by another hunter. No offense but his buddy didn't find it he did. A 20k finders fee would make alot of peoples day. My guess is its not as big as they think. And that if they thought for sure it wouldn't leave the spot they wouldn't consider selling it.
If u sell it you show outfitter the video then draw up contract. You get paid once they set eyes on it whether they kill it or not.
I hope it stays put so you guys can whack it.

Alright!

This sshhit has gone on long enough!

I wanna see a Pic of the Bull related to the Spider Bull!

CUPSY says:post the Pic or it ain't so!

haha i'm just not a fan of pretty much anything to do with their game management and tag allocation. beautiful state though

It's all a scam, there were no 400s taken on the Pahvant as far as I know. I spent a ton of time down there and I know several guys with permits.

There were two bulls in the 390s taken that I know of, but nothing over 400 let alone 450.

I think someone wanted people to pay attention to the Pahvant and less attention to the unit they were hunting.

I highly doubt the poster will ever reply to this post again. If he does, he better post up the video and pics he has. They are no good to him and his buddy anymore anyway.

I think somebody went fishing on the "Elk" forum and hooked a few utards....hook, line, and sinker. OP's other posts appear he's a few states away from UT or the pahvant for that matter...

RE: HJB???

Yhe if there wasnt a bull that big killed it didnt exist...do you really believe that no big bulls make it through the season? How did your precious spider bull make it as long as he did?

RE: HJB???

there is a story, but it is isn't good. to say I'm more pissed off than the guy who missed moby ##### would be an under statement.needless to say "willey" is probably dead, and I went against my better judgement and didn't make 20 grand finding him.
we will keep looking for the next week...........

RE: HJB???

Umm, unless you have a guides license you cannot make 50 cents off of him. So you probably did the right thing.
Casper the Elk, uh, I mean Willey will live to see another day.

Lets hear the story hanginmeat?

RE: HJB???

>Hey HJB?
>
>Wasn't you helping a friend on
>the Pahvant this year?
>
>How'd you Guys do?

It was a tough hunt. Lots of nice bulls, but they were a little late in rutting and there were bachelor groups still hangin out on the last day of the hunt. My buddy killed a 5x5 on the last day.

You will have to ask "Woody" if you want more info on his hunt.

I also know a rifle hunter that ate his tag. Passed some great bulls, but just couldn't find what he was looking for. I know several muzzy hunters, and I'm thinking they will have a good hunt.

I talked to a ton of people hunting deer and elk on the pahvant this year and not one person knows anything about a 450 Bull. There were a few rumors of a 400 on the North, but nobody could ever confirm. I know there was a 390 bull shot in the same area we had a camera in, but we never saw the bull in the summer. It was shot by some lady. Her relative also shot a huge 390 bull in the same week down there. They were guided, but I'm not sure by who. Possibly Mossback, I know they have been roaming around down there on the North.

RE: HJB???

Thanks HJB!

I was just Curious of how things went where you were Hunting!

It's called Huntin, that means it's not always easy!

RE: HJB???

I wanna know, i might have the tag next year lol. He is probably talking about the 391 that mossback took off the unit and added 60"

Well the rifle hunt is over... Lets see a picture of this bull.

I'm starting to think there really isn't a picture to go along with the story :)

I'm sure the bull is dead. we are still looking, but it's not looking good. I won't post pictures for a while, we need to find him first, then I'll post every one of them.

RE: HJB???

Saw that bull on opening morning. 1st bull I saw on the hunt! We got there early and had a truck with a lady pull up as we started up the hill. Public ground, so no complaints. By the time we spotted the bull, they were on their way to kill it. I wanted to move in, as they took a weird approach, but my guide advised against it. He was a Mossback guide, and I agreed with him. We were beaten by someone who knew the bull was there. Sure hurt, but it also told me that all these bad stories about Mossback are full of crap. Ended up getting a 365 bull at 752 yards:). Though I still hurt at the one that "got away".

>your a joke. you'll just wait
>until people forget about this

your a f-ing idiot.

Haha I'm the idiot? Prove me wrong then dbag.. I'm not the smart one who posted a comment like this for the world to see before your buddies hunt even started..

trust me, "hangingmeat/ beatingmeat/I" will never forget about that bull.

the short story is we got are shot at willy, didn't make a good shot, and lost blood. who knows how many hours/days we've looked.
what would you do? post a bunch of pics to get a bunch of guys out looking? would someone honestly come look and return the bull if they found him? I don't think so, but maybe there is nothing to lose at this point.
