You still got him and it should have been a real quick kill. My brother-in-law shot his buck in about the same exact spot from about 30 yards last season. Buck dropped in his tracks, blew up the back bone.
Congrats on the nice buck.

ya it knocked him straight to the ground, but it only paralyized his back legs. He tried pulling himself away with his front legs but i quickly put another bullet in his neck putting him down. Best shot for no wasted meat.

LAST EDITED ON Jun-20-07 AT 10:00AM (MST)[p]That's too funny. My brother-in-laws did that too. Dropped him in his tracks and then tried to pull himself up with his front legs. I told him to put one more in him, but the buck dropped back down and never moved again and expired pretty quickly.

You sould feel lucky, I had a shot at a Tall 25" 4 point last year with my bow at 75 yards, with a fairly steep down hill angle. Well in the heat of the moment I forgot to compensate for the down hill angle and put my 70 yard pin on the top of his back and thats exactly were the arrow went, I even had a hair caught in one of my flechings. I always say if it was just a couple inchs lower he wouldnt have went anywhere.:)

I wasnt to bad though I got a nice little 4 point the next night.
