Winter of 2011 we went up to Cache Valley to see these Elk, the DWR missed closing a fence and they spend all winter in the farmer's fields. They aren't monsters like some of the pics uploaded here but it was awesome to see so many bulls hanging out. I am sure the neighbors got sick of the extra traffic...

I'm sure the owner wasn't to pleased. He probably was compensated for any damages done to his field.

Still an awesome sight.

Thanks for posting 'em up. You're right, no monsters, but awesome to see 'em yarded up and hangin' out. I love to see unusuall pics and stories posted here for us to read. Thanks again!

maybe no absolute giants, but there is a bull or two in there are very very good bulls. Neat pictures.

LAST EDITED ON Sep-12-12 AT 01:19PM (MST)[p]Damages no way, if he was compensated it was a waste of Utah's money. For one it was frozen and besides a trail or two they cannot do to much more damage than what a good harrow job does in the spring. I grew up on a farm and we never had crop damage because our cows grazed on our hay or grain fields after the last harvest. This probably helped these bulls a lot.

Some dumb ass poached one of the smaller bulls and got caught. I can't believe someone thought they could get away with poaching one of these bulls with all the publicity they had.

Nice looking bunch. I would be happy with some of them in my sights.
