Wyoming Deer Unit 101

A buddy of mine drew a 101 deer tag, applied for this area due to the odds of drawing 102. I agreed to put it out to any of you guys that may have some information on this unit. I was hoping that someone around here at MM will have some general information on this unit. Potential, roads, where the heavier concentrations of deer are in this unit. Again I am not asking for in detailed areas, maybe just some general direction.

I too applied for the area but was unsuccessful, since it was my idea to apply for this unit I figured I would do the bulk of the research on this unit.

Any suggestions?

Wrong year to draw a good tag. I'd look at Kinney Rim especially the Southern end. All of Kinney has the biggest concentrations of deer. There may be some bigger deer scattered throughout the unit. They cut the tags by 40% so it should be no pressure.

Get the "Kinney Rim" BLM map for starters.Kinney does hold the most deer, but also the most people.I would hunt the lower juniper country.Expect to see few deer in those areas, but you could find a bomber loner buck. The later the better.

Bigmuley,

You might also look at the area around Rifes Rim. Your buddy should have a fun hunt...

Hey there Bigmuley. My father and I hunted it 3 years ago. Like previously mentioned I would focus on the lower Pinion-Juniper country. The deer seem to scatter somewhat when the people start to roll in, and we found the biggest bucks down lower, off of Kinney Rim. Missed a dandy the last morning of the hunt.

Good luck
