looking for some info on this area, I just drove thru it this week end I really like the looks of it, is there any O.C Rifle tags?...

manny, Idaho almost always has rifle deer tags for sale over the counter. Be sure to make sure that you can go after a mature 4 point because some areas are 2 point only. fatrooster.

Plenty of hunting and fishing opportunities in the area. unit 39, 43, 48, and a bunch of others all general season deer hunting. general elk in 39 too. all a short drive from MH. plus the best controlled unit in the state (45) is literally at your back door. drawing a tag is near impossible but it's fun to cruise over after the season and drool over the huge bucks (and bulls) you'll see. CJ strike reservoir is minuets away. and little camas, magic, mormon reservoirs are all a quick trip from there. as is the south fork Boise river. Duck valley is close by, Sun Valley an hour or two away. list is endless really.

You are talking about my home turf, the land that I love! I've probably spent more time in those hills around Mountain Home than anywhere else in this world! I grew up in Boise and we would hunt, fish, and do about everything else you can imagine up there in the area you are talking about. When I was a kid the general deer season was open until the 2nd week of November and with that area being a major migration area, we would see monsters moving through. Over the last 10 years the deer quality in the general units has gone down, especially in the easily accessed regions. With that said, there still are big bucks and we manage to do alright each year, but you've got to work for them! I'll post a few pics in a minute from various parts of that area.
