I found this buck again today. Have videotaped this buck for the past couple years in the same spot. Have hunted for him a little with no luck. Do you guys think he'll be a taker this year? How wide is he in this clip? How much more do you all think he'll grow?
He has long browtines!!! And, I'm guessing he's around 28" wide.

LAST EDITED ON Jul-05-07 AT 02:44PM (MST)[p]27-28 inch 170 ish.
Not a taker for a guy like you!

LAST EDITED ON Jul-05-07 AT 02:57PM (MST)[p]28-29" wide about 175 or so and he will gain about 10-12 inches before he done growing,he might just get a 1" or 2 more spread he will be a mid to high 180's buck come end of Sept. Yes I would shoot him.

Both are takers in my book, but then again, I live in Oregon where the big bucks are rarely found off of private ground.

Nice buck, 20" from ear tip to ear tip I would say you are about correct at 28"-29", With all the feed it looks like you guys have there it will definately grow some more, here in Az the feed is kinda sparse with the drought we are in, If that buck was here I don't think he would have grown to that size by now, We need some rain and moisture bad here, I would definately throw an arrow his way for sure if given the chance.

Definitly a shooter during archery season. I would guess 27" maybe 28" at best. I don't believe he'll score 170's only for the fact that he has weak fronts and not real good backs, but still respectable for sure. Remember, a "TROPHY" is in the eye of the taker.

Damn they look awesome with their head down, walking away. In an area with lots of hunting pressure, he's a taker. Probably a taker in most units except the very best ones.

Let him grow up!
What's with everyone wanting to shoot these small bucks?
No wonder we can't find a decent buck out there!
He needs at least two more years to reach his potential.

That's a serious buck, if those points keep stretching a few more inches he's going to be well into the 180's (if not 190). He looks like he's got long brow tines too, quite a find. Boom!

Guys,

I hate to say this, but I THINK you guys are over-guessing. A very nice/big deer, but not 28-29 and not a 180, Who knows in a month though? I wish we could see him from the front.

I'd draw back on him for sure. Real nice buck , his backs are still short but he will still grow some and come the end of August he'll be close to 27 and maybe 170 and change. He is a good buck and I'd love to have him but not even close to 180 . It looks to be great with plenty of feed and bucks can grow any where from a half inch to an inch a day in some years, so lets say he is around 160 now and at 1/2 an inch a day til the end of Aug, thats still some growing which puts him in the 170s'...I dunno Founder , it be hard to let him walk , I think you should stay on him and if nothing bigger is found by the time your season starts just put your tag on him and then we'll find out how close any of are ....Thanks for sharing it ...

No, dont shoot them. Instead give me the location and I will personally check on them to make sure they are OK.
