Its huge, and it is effecting some real good deer and elk winter range, and some summer range. I know it burned where my wife shot her deer last year, along with places I saw some good bucks this past winter. I like a little fire, but this one is way to big.
280,000 acres burned and all great mule deer habitat. Doesn't look they are going to catch a break, the fire just keeps growing. Now the 1 priority fire in the nation. SAD! Our prayers go out to all that are associated with this fire.
This is a bad deal. I didn't mean to make light of it with my RUN BAMBI post. I hope everyone is safe. From the photos I have seen it looks like devastation abounds West of i-15 from Cove fort to beaver. This area burns a lot. Its a good area for deer and I hope it can rebound. The wind is bad - and spread this fast. Guess that is why they are building the wind power plant out there.
We better get some rain - or the western states are going to regulate the hills to death this fall.
