If I'm right will you tell me?

Work to hunt!! Live to hunt!! And the rest spent keeping the wife happy!!

Eelgrass,
That is not a telephone pole, it is a power pole and the object below the crossarms is a secondary potential transformer and below it is eith a Sectionalizer or a Recloser. LOL

Brian

I think the only time I seen them bunch up like that in Utah was right next to a NO TRESPASSING sign. Just kidding!

Work to hunt!! Live to hunt!! And the rest spent keeping the wife happy!!

Eelgrass. I think Kilowatt has had his finger in a light socket to long. I mean come on Kilo!! Sectionalizer eh? Recloser WTF? Spell check don't even reconize them as words. And where the heck are the deer I can't see them?

RUT,
The reason you wouldn't find the words are because they are Electric pieces of equipment to maintain relieable power service to customers. Without a good up close picture it is really hard to tell, could even be a small Capacitor Bank there on the pole.
Don't want to try to explain as might even have you more confused..LOL
Usually a Recloser will have an Electronic Controller below on the pole with settings that are determined by an Electric Engineer and uploaded to control. I have seen in NV where they have Reclosers out in the middle of no mans land without controls, never have understood what purpose they were used for there. More problems this way too.

Not all states are done the same, but next time your power goes out when you are in the middle of a game on TV or watching a porn flick, count to 5 seconds, if it was only a momentary thing, the power will be back on. Substation Regulators also come into picture. Might be they are set at 20 sec or even 60 sec.

Now are you confused......sorry.

RUTNBUCK

Forget "spell check" use www.google.com Just type in the name of Recloser, or Sectionalizer and even Capacitor Bank (maybe not Bank) and you will see what I am talking about. LOL

LAST EDITED ON Jul-21-07 AT 12:35PM (MST)[p]To me it looks like a 8ft Deadend Apiton Arm on top. Followed by a 8 ft Switch Arm. Followed by a 3phase transformer bank.(could be 2 transformers- open delta). Then there is a service going to a pole that probably meters a pump.

And it is NOT a telephone pole. And the deer are awesome.

in2power,

Good observation, your eyes are better than mine. LOL Did'nt even notice that other service pole.

Most of my work was in Substation Maint. till the last 5 or 6 years when I got into the Electronic Controls and set ups in the field.
Glad I am retired now.

Brian

Sure Yeah Right. I suppose next your going to tell me you designed the Flux Capacitor on Back to the Future.

That's not a telephone pole???? I might be mistaken about the location then. Because the one I saw over there was definatly a telephone pole! LOL!

No wonder it takes so long to restore power after an outage. You got no telephone poles and no way to communicate!:)

Eel

Oh this post turned out real good...show you some Bucks and you all squabble over ELECTRICITY AND TELEPHONES???? Anyway thanks for posting the pic for me Kilo. Eelgrass your 50 miles off on your guess...congratulations, you win a cookie!!
