I couldn't resist passing this along. Pretty sad.

ROOSEVELT ? A 60-year-old Colorado man was killed Monday morning when he struck a deer with his motorcycle.
David Rowe of Monte Vista, Colo., was driving north on state Route 191 near Steinaker State Park, according to a Utah Highway Patrol accident report, when a deer stepped onto the roadway. Rowe collided with the deer and crashed his Harley Davidson motorcycle. He was not wearing a helmet and died at the scene.

Sometimes a helmet doesn't help either. My future son-in-law's father was killed a few years back right outside of town when he hit a deer. He was wearing a helmet. The deer was a buck and I understand he took an antler tip to the base of his skull anyway. I guess when it's your time...

A local biker was killed after hitting a deer a few years back. One of the town docs happened to be in the car behind him and was on the scene immediately. Still couldn't save him. I saw a magpie bounce off a guy's helmet last week. I think these accidents are more common than we might think.

theres's few around my place every year -- no big deal to me, if you get on a bike and drive it around you know the risks, or you dont care.

I gave it up after being hit by a car on a motercycle, most accidents are not the bike riders fault - but on a bike, it dont matter at 60mph who's fault it is, your dead. . .

Two years ago I drove past an accident that had just occurred within a minute or two. It was a 4 lane divided highway so I just kept going. There was help there right behind him. Guy was on his hands and knees head drenched in blood, dripping off his nose. 100' behind him lied his bike in the middle of the road. 100 yards behind that was a dead buck in the middle of the road. No explanation necessary.

I'd never ride a bike. Lost enough friends already, and many just got maimed and quit.

I went to a call(I'm a firemen) for a motorcyclist vs. turkey. The man walked away. He was doing 55 when the jake tried to fly across the hwy. The guy did ask if it was dead oh yea. you just never know!!! Nocalhonker

This one in todays paper:

DUCK CREEK, Kane County ? A motorcyclist is dead and another is reported to be in critical condition following a crash on state Route 14.
The Utah Highway Patrol said a Pontiac had slowed down on the road for a pedestrian who had stopped to take pictures of a dead deer in the road. Two motorcyclists behind the Pontiac were unable to stop, slamming into the back of the car.
Troopers said Douglas Scott Palmer, 64, of Saugus, Calif., was killed in the crash in the 12:46 p.m. Thursday crash. Another rider, James Palmer, 50, from Thousand Oaks, Calif., was flown to a Salt Lake City hospital where he was last reported to be in critical condition.

- - - - Pictures of a dead deer in the road?

Many years ago myself and a buddy were on our bikes coming through the Black Hills in the early morning. A wild turkey flew across the road and almost collided with my pal, and I'm not talking "wild Turkey" out of a bottle. Scary.
