was wondering if anyone has spent time in the unit to provide info on mulies. i have been up the river snake, and chukar hunt alot on the east side of the salmon, i am sure there are areas to get around private land and get on a good buck,, any thoughts thanks in advance.....

Bouldercreek hunts the private land.
The state land is a pain to get on, except for the large chunk near Camp Howard... The rest is just bits here and there little to no access.
I killed a decent buck in 13 a few years ago. I drew the tag on my first try... not to hard. Killed the biggest Buck I saw on the hunt. I have not tried to draw the tag again. There are better places to hunt for muleys DIY on public ground. hell just go south a few miles into 18. miles and miles of open ground, with bigger deer. i got a pretty good one in this unit.

14 across the river is also pretty good. and the private land is all down low, where the bigger bucks do not go until after the season is over. We own a ranch in this unit.
If you are in for a different hunt for muleys, in farm ground and are a smooth talker 11a is by far the best thing going. There are some absolute monsters in the canyons between the farm ground. it is almost all private ground. access is possible but not a sure thing. $$$$ or something in return is going to be a must, except for a few farmers, and those are my honey holes so.. find your own.
I would mention unit 11, but it is so hard to draw for deer and elk it is not worth it. big deer in there though.

There is limited public land in the area. My dad has been in a few times to what little there is and has seen a few bucks. The biggest was about a 22" 4-point. He decided to apply there this year, as he and my uncle wanted to give it a try and they are both residents.

Guess what????? Sounds like almost all if not all of the public land was just burned up by the Poe Cabin fire. Looks like 55000 acres and is now 80% contained. There are sure some bucks on private, but I don't know what your chances are of getting on. Maybe with some cash.

Same opinion as others. There are a lot better areas to draw. There is a reason that this is a 100% draw for residents. Very limited access to a small bit of public land and bucks no bigger than general hunt. That being said---who knows? Maybe you could pull a big one out of there.

As always---good luck and enjoy your times out in the field---wherever you may be.
