Mule Deer Outfitter Needed

My name is Archie Nichols, and I am from Florence, Mississippi. I have always dreamed of having the opportunity of coming out west to pursue a trophy mule deer (With Rifle). A couple of days ago, my wife told me that she wanted to give me this opportunity for my 40th birthday next year. Now the hard part of finding the right outfitter begins. I know that having a guide is the way that I want to go. This could very well be a once in a lifetime opportunity for me, and I want to be sure I make the right decision. One thing that the hunt has to be is absolutely 100% fair chase. Anything else is not hunting to me. The thing that worries me the most is winding up with the wrong outfitter and not having the opportunity at a good buck. I am not expecting to break a world record, but I would like the opportunity to harvest a trophy animal 150-170+. I am looking for a place with good guides who will do anything in their power to make a hunt successful and enjoyable, good food, nice accomidations, and a guaranteed draw on a license. I am looking in the price range of $4000 or under including license.

Thanks,

Archie

Archie,

You lucky dog! You will have a good time. But to answer your question first you will have to answer some basic questions: What states are you interested in? What kind of hunt (wilderness pack trip, ranch hunt etc.) are you in shape for? I am not a guide but had my own trip a few years ago. Everyone's idea of a dream hunt is different. Once you have some ideas look at the guides that are advertised on this site. There are some really good ones out there. I will give you a few outfits that I have researched if interested but not on this post. Don't want to offend any I leave out.

Archie,
Look up Atkinson Expeditions on the internet. They offer great deer hunts with quality guides. Most of their hunting is spot and stalk. They have killed some great deer and have lots of land leased for a great Colorado hunt. Talk to Wes he will send you a dvd of some of there past hunts. Good luck! JC

i'll tell ya what, if you want to shoot and incredible buck scoring well over 180, you'll ot want to look any further than J&J outfitters in utah. i know where they hunt, and i've seen some incredible deer.

You will almost be guaranteed one with Eric in the 150 to 170 range.

Enjoy and be sure to drop lots of money into the local economy.
