(THIEF THAT STOLE MY CAMERA FROM LITTLE COTTENWOOD CANYON,UTAH)

YOU DIRTY SOB... may you rot in HELL!

I have been scouting an area for four years. The Day I put up the camera I had watched ten different bucks from a distance. After the bucks have moved on to bed I slipped in and had been waiting now for about a three weeks.

Hiking the three hours to get to the area... I am down right pissed off that some other hunter would be such as A$$HOLE to steal the camera from where I had placed it.

For the recored... and please pass it on to others that run into a tree camera...
(Start out with carring a digital camera that can use the cards)
1) OPEN THE DAMN THING...
2) TAKE OUT CARD...
3) LOOK AT PHOTOS...
4) PUT BACK IN CAMERA...
5) WE BOTH GET TO SEE WHAT IS THERE....

WHERE IS THE RESPECT?

NOW I WILL BE HUNTING YOUR A$$. I will stock all cars in the area. I will take license plates. I will set new cameras to take pictures of you that you can't possibliy take the camera.
We today are makeing a security box that you cannot steal from the mountain.... You can try and steal... break but you should not be able to get to the card that has hopefully captured your A$$.

BEWARE MY BROTHER, STEALING MFer. I am looking for you... There is KARMA. YOU ARE SUCH AN A$$, that you will probably, spill the beans by bragging about your little stunt. I hope someone else out there hears about my post...

EVERYONE LOOK FOR PHOTOS THAT HAVE BIG BUCKS, in this back ground...and when we get to the judgment day... I will enjoy your denounced sentence from the Hunting Gods...

BEWARE, BEWARE, BEWARE, You cursed SOB. FOR ANY OF YOU OTHER STEALING MF'er... may you rot in HELL!

That totally sucks.. but are you sre that someone stole it? are there hiking boot tracks that lead up to it? Maybe you can match the print to whoever took it. I saw pictures of a cow elk taking down a webcam on another sight perhaps there are some camera shy deer in the area..

I looked everywhere because that other camera is mine with (BB) Bill Allard off BOWSITE.COM too.

Did see boot tracks around area as I was hiking in but nothing in the exact area. I did look all around the tree....but nothing...

I guess BIG FOOT.... didn't want his picture taken.

There is a MFer out there.
(Sorry for the language... I'm pissed cause I'm showing blank photos taken today with regular digital photos instead of big bucks captured on tree camera.)

I think I recognize that finger. LOL

I hope you catch the SOB because you know he will be hunting those same bucks. Keep mum and he just might tell ya about "his" pictures of these buck on "his" trail camera. Good luck in finding the SOB.

I think some of them showed up over in the campfire?! Was it in the NE region????

I had a trail camera stolen near the mouth of little cottonwood during the extended hunt two years ago. Luckily it was a cheap one and I think I know the stinkin loser that took it. Now evertime I hike 2+ hours to check a camera I cross my fingers the whole way. So far so good this year. WHAT A WORLD WE NOW LIVE IN?!@# Isn't it great when people can't keep their hands to themselves even at 10,000 ft?@#!@

My Father in law has become very creative in taking some plumbing tape??? metal like and he riveted some holes in it and we're going to secure them a bit more than before.

I hope the message... I give is ... look but don't take.... we can all share the photos for all I care.

In fact, Five years ago, I met one of my greatest hunting friends at a waterhole we were both scouting.... most of you know him...

Bill Allard. He took out his dentures and gave me a photo on my tree camera to remember... To this day... the recent photos that have the elk chewing on the camera is the same hole I am referring to... What fun about the photos is sharing too. Its been fun for both of us to watch and see what the hills are producing.

I hope I do act as Bill did.... Public Land is for all to enjoy... Honey hole or not... There is plenty to share and I honestly don't run into alot of people in the hills. If they can find the same spot... I am all about sharing... Just don't ask me to take you there.

MIDNIGHT

Just maybe you were encroaching on someone else's area, and he felt pist and took the evidence of what was in the area...

Anyways nothing safer then spending time in an area glassing.. Cheaper too...

no right to steel though.......

There are hikers in Little and Big Cottonwood canyon all day - everyday - and 99% of them are not hunters. In fact, 50% of them would steal a trail cam just to piss off a hunter.

Ill bet you the cost of your trail cam no hunter did this - so pipe the f down on this site.

Dude that sucks and you have every right to call those dirty SOB's out. I just set my camera up on Friday and I got so nervous that a theif would take it I had to go get it. (It wasn't secured as well as I would have liked.) To anyone who would steal someones camera, I hope the hunting Gods give you what you deserve. To everyone else, leave the cameras alone! We all work hard for our money and the last thing we all need is scum bags steals what we have worked so hard to get.

I've never used a trailcam but buying thought about one. Thought I'd camoflague it instead of making it theft proof. Wouldn't that work??

I accept the fact that it could be stolen when I placed it. Yes a day hiker or nature lover or anyone else could have taken it... the last person I want to accuse is another hunter... I am only accusing the guilty. Who every they might be... To hell with them. Nature lover or hiker, or my fellow hunter...The camera simply has disappeared. Very dissappointed that's all.

Why wouldnt the nature lover toss the salt in a bush???
Because the dumbass hunter wants to use it for his advantage...would be my thinking. I could be very wrong. So lets drop it.

I'll get over it. No problem... as said with all idoits that take from others... I guess they need it more than I do...

Its funny... you post on here and you get the same old half on your side...and the other against whatever you say.

Communication... got to love it.

This is beginning to feel like beating a dead horse... On the other post with Bobcatbess (FOUND TRAIL CAM)... I was having fun. From the sounds of it... others have become disgusted with him as he likes to play with others. 6500 posts...WHAT A WELCOME MAT FOR MM.

Good luck this season.

Midnight - you have every right to be po-ed and feel victimized.

I had three sets of golf clubs stolen a few years back. The last thing I thought was that another golfer stole the clubs. I figured (and correctly I would bet) that some dumb A stole them for drug money and pawned them. I checked ebay, the cops, and pawn shops for weeks/months. They were just gone. With the amount of traffic in little cottonwood - ANYTHING could have happened. I wouldn't immediatly accuse another hunter. Sad if it was.

Whoever did this - I hope you find them. More importantly, I just hope you find your stuff.

Sorry to hear of the loss. I can't stand a thief or a liar , one in the same if you think about it. I have always had that as a worry about buying a nice trail cam and leaving it here in NM. Just seems that for every good guy there is a dirt bag scum bucket that does an act such as this and then it makes you wonder WHO is really good and WHO is really just a maget once you turn your back... Hope you get a great buck to make up for your loss...

LAST EDITED ON Aug-13-07 AT 12:41PM (MST)[p]Midnight2-

Was your trail cam stolen from the same location where you shot "Lefty" in 2004? If so, you need to stop killing big bucks. People are probably "trailing you" in an effort to find the big deer you are watching. Good luck in the upcoming season.

LAST EDITED ON Aug-13-07 AT 11:24PM (MST)[p]Midnight,

I feel your pain! I've been hunting and scouting up little cottonwood for five years now and just had a similar deal happen to me up there a month ago. I had my 35mm locked to the tree and left just enough play in the lock to where the front housing could be opened enough to take the film out. They broke the clips that keep it shut, re-wound the film first I hope, then toke the film and ran to one hour photo, but they were kind enough to close the camera door! Dirt bags.

Although, two weeks ago I had a pretty cool experince with one cam that I thought was "safe", No lock just zip tied to the tree and I had two hunters that were in camo, scouting I assume, give me the thumbs up and walk right on by. They could have taken, destroyed or messed with it with no pain at all, but Its nice to see that there are still some decent people/hunters roaming the rocks with us!

I pulled the four cams that I had up there down last Saturday, because ever tree will be pee'd on up there come this Saturday.

Let the circus begin!!

Good luck to you... I hope all your scouting pays off. If you do get your buck... be sure and post it with your scouting photos. That would be cool.

What a dumb Mf'er you are. Let me see if I understand this correctly...you leave something out on public land and yet get mad when someone steals it? You need to understand that you are the one that is mis-guided for thinking that it wouldn't get stolen. What were you thinkin? Sounds like you have more money than sense anyway so just go out and buy another one.

P.S. The guy that stole your camera wanted me to tell you to hang a few stands up...he needs a few of those too. He would also be glad to mail or e-mail the photos you requested but not the camera. Happy camera shopping!

Seriously, just because its public land doesnt mean you should expect things to get stolen. You would hope that people would have more moral and class than that, but by your post, I guess I can go ahead and count you in with the jackasses that took his trailcamera.

Heh...crestedbutte, why don't you let the rest of us in on what parcel of public land you park your truck and set up your camp.

Apparently in your eyes, public land makes your stuff public property, so you won't be complaining if one of us decides to help ourselves... ;-)

Well call me old fashioned but I was raised that if something doesn't belong to you leave it alone.. Just like when I go to one of my favorite hunting spots and someone else beat me there and is set up I move somewhere else and I make the most of it. Same thing applies to another persons camp.. You leave it alone.. Public land or not. I respect other peoples property and I hope others will do the same. To bad not everyone feels the same and that it's okay to take something that does not belong to them. It will never be okay with me.. We actually caught a guy stealing a buck from our camp with his 12 year old son.. I told him that I could not believe he would take another mans deer. They cut it down and were carrying to their truck when we asked them what the hell they were doing.. You should have seen the look on his face. I said that I bet his son was really proud of his Dad. The only thing that saved him from the ass whipping of his life was his apologetic attitude and the fact that his kid was with him.. I told him he made me sick and to get the hell out of there.. What a role model that piece of work is.. I guess we all have similar stories of people that feel it's okay to take things that don't belong to them and I don't give a damn where it's at.. Wrong is wrong..

Right on,Model 70.Unfortunately,CrestedButte is right about one thing-there are many out there who feel if they find it,it belongs to them.I had my camper broken into on PRIVATE property inside a fenced enclosure with barbed wire on top. They took my TV,inverter, camp chairs, etc.Really makes you feel violated. As far as the trailcams-buy the cheap ones if you are going to put them on public land!

When I was a boy scout we camped at the same campsite every couple of months. One night we showed up and someone had built a lien-to and cooking stand out of tree limbs tied together with twine. As most any scouts would, we made quick dispatch of the lien-to and the cooking stand with a boy scout sized bon fire. Dude showed up later that night and damn near shot one of the scouts for burning "his" property. BS on that.

You take a lot of risk leaving your stuff on public land.

I would never take a trail cam, and I think the guy that did is a moron and I hope he is caught. But, I would never leave a trail cam on public property either. One - I personally think its unethical, lazy, and cheating. And, 2 - your risking losing it.

I'm really liking this new finders / keepers
rule of hunting.

Here's a little photo of my most recent find,

She was clearly on public land,
I identified the BLM boundary.

She was totally unattended, by anyone else.

Thus in meeting all the requirements of the necessary rules to take things,

I helped myself

Trail cameras are unethical? Boy I have heard it all now! I know there are some differing opinions on here but to say a trail camera is CHEATING is quite a stretch. And to say it is LAZY is even worse. If hiking two and a half hours one way to drop off a camera and then checking it several times during the scouting season is lazy, I must be one lazy SOB. Yep I guess I have heard it all here on monster mulies. I think I have just about heard it all!!!!

BY THE WAY IF YOU DON'T LEAVE A TRAIL CAM ON PUBLIC LAND WHERE IN THE WORLD WOULD YOU LEAVE IT?

crustybutt,We are a small breed of individuals who spend our time out in the hills with our families who dont expect some peice of ##### to come along and steal our things .You are one of the people who give us a bad name .There is one of you in every aspect of life .Someone who not only will steal from us but you will cheat on youre wife ,lie on youre time card at work and poach what you dont have the skill to take legally.Youre mindset is all ##### up .Nobody should EXPECT anything they have to get ripped off by some crackhead who dont deserve to be free, and should be locked up in youre local jail ,wich ,From youre post ,I am sure you have been. From the bottom of my heart and on the behalf of all my brothers out there doing what we love .FU PAL

Ok!! what if it was a 20x60 swarosvki spotting scope on a Bogen tripod left next to a waterhole, would you take it? HHMMM let me guess!!!

On that note. If all 90% of the post on here are correct about being ethical, law abiding sportsman. Then I must have been in the unfortunate area where the 10% non-law abiding sportsman were, at the time my sh%&t was stolen. Happy hunting.

There seems to be a theif in that canyon....obviously.
My buddy had his trail cam broken into and had the roll of film taken from it, also from little cottonwood.
Unbeleivable!!

Hey,
Why is it assumed I stole the camera (Futtbucker & fldrw22)? All I did was point out the fact you gotta be a freakin idiot to leave a $200.00 plus item out in the woods and on public land at that and think it will be just fine...life is just hunky dory full of lollypops and candy kisses. What is truly sad if you read his post...it took someone stealing it for him to wise up at either hiding it better or making it more theft proof. If he would have gone to that length to begin with, we wouldn't all be wrapped up in his poor me story of drama, doom and gloom.
Deep down I feel for the guy, but those feelings can only go so far for a person that will be getting the "here's your sign," award this week. fldrw22, you need to wake up...it is not 1955 in Mayberry anymore. Just so you know, it is 2007 and people steal everything these days. You should expect to be ripped off especially in this situation. He was rolling the dice when he hung that camera up on public ground, he knows it and all of us who hang cameras up whether on private or public land walk away hoping it is still there the next time they come by. If anything you hang a cheap one to determine its longevity in an area before you put the money down for the high dollar models. fldrw22, is so noble with the bottom of my heart and behalf of all my brothers vomit...while ending his post with the classic FU PAL. fldrw22, I'd love to meet up with you someday in the woods and ##### slap the hell out of you...what a prick bastard!

Now youre showing youre true colors ,Condone stealing ,Violent ,No self control,NICE ,

Crustybutt

I guess the next time you set up camp on public land that your entire camp is up for grabs if you leave. Is that the rule now?

I guess ya can't expect to put anything on public land and expect it to stay there. Not many have the mentality that you do, but unfortunately in our society, its way too many.

On the other issue, definately Memorex!!

No Crustybutt, no one asked, but I threw my $0.02 in anyway.

Keep your sticky fingers in you pocket where they belong.

Damn, some people have balls or are brave cuz they're on the net. I wish I'd have spied your camera. You'd have a fine picture and hopefully a laugh when you saw my hairy A$$. But you'd still have your trailcam.

Overton, I manage MY anger in a very constructive manner (destructive to some).

No offence given or taken. Really just trying to pass 100 so the newbie crap is off me. Good luck.

Hey midnight:

It sounds like there are a few others that have had trail cams or stuff messed with in little cottonwood. If you didn't already, I would contact the cops. It sounds like there is something wrong - b-tard theif or someone just messing with hunters?

At any rate, the cops may be able to get your cam back if they bust the tard doing this.

crestedbutte-
Next time you are up on public ground and you walk away from your trailer, and or your ATV, i hope someone just goes ahead and feels free to take them! If your mentality is that "what is on public ground is free for the taking"....what a freakin egotistical, selfish idiot you are!!
And the name calling? Wow, you really are a grown up!!
If your going to talk like this to fellow members and you think this low of others.......go find another site, we don't need your kind on here.
SLAMDUNK

Well said Slamdunk.
I hope I'm lucky enough to harvest crustybutt come this saturday. If he's on public land, he's free for the takin and he's comin down!

Sorry but I can't even re,meber what this thread is about after looking at those custom jobs on that archer

Judging by the smoothness, fatness and shortness of that guys hand, i think your camera got stolen by a yuppie. The manicured nails is a dead give away. Plus the jacket too.

Umm, let me think THIS one over.
None purposely leaves a spotting scope by a watering hole, a trail cam is meant to be left for a short period of time. It's purpose IS to be left so it can take the pix....kind of a "no brainer"????

Doesn't sound to me like CB is a theif.Just not very politically correct.Kind of blunt and to the point;maybe could use a little more tact. He's absolutely right, though. There are a**holes nowdays everywhere you go.You take your chances leaving your personal property unattended on public land.Like I said before-don't spend more than you can afford to lose on one of those trailcams for public land useage!

Midnight2 hope you catch the thieving ingrates. Thanks for capping my buck and cutting up the meat. If you have a picture of my buck on you trail cameras give me a call.

Midnight2 knows his cameras might end up this way. He knows there are losers out there that might do this. Like he said his camera pictures are public property when on the hill look at them but don't take the camera or mess with the settings.

I believe in karma and what comes around goes around.
