WY elk question

I'm not as familiar with Wyoming as I am other states - so I thought I'd pose my question here. I'm interested in the late season elk hunts, but I've only got 5 points going into the 2013 draw. Not looking for the biggest elk in the state, but just wondered if I had any chance of drawing a late season tag in any of the units that offer the late season. It'll be a guided hunt.

If not late season - any advice on what areas to look with 5 points?

Appreciate the help!

There is always a chance to get drawn in WT, even with 0 points. Many times the odds are significantly better if you but in for the higher priced, special license. Overall I expect the odds to decrease this year, as fewer tags are given and many people try to cash in their points ahead of the price increases. It iwll not be an easy year to draw most tags.

area 19. I would check out www.thunderridgeoutfitter.com. I booked a hunt for 2013. give Randy or Ron a call on their cell number. They do quite well in the late season hunt. 4 points in the random draw should get you a tag.

I had a friend tell me most of the big elk in the Thunderridges photos were taken on a ranch they have leased in the Big Horns. That hunt is fairly pricey. Worth inquiring if you go that route...

That is correct. Alot of the bigger Elk are from area 49. lease hunt. The photo with Randy and Benny in the back of the blue pickup is from area 19. Any photos with Randy or Benny in them were from area 19.

Area 61 is a good unit. Try Meade Dominick of 7D Ranch & Outfitters for all the units in and around Cody,WY. Also the better parts of 61 are surrounded by private and access is essential. There is a guy named Ryan that guides for Meade and owns a cabin on some acreage at the end of the road in 61 and has access through all the private to the national forest. If you want Ryan's contact info send me a PM.
