Hey guys. I'm running out of options this year, and am thinking of buying tags for these units so my son and I can spend some time in the mountains together. Anybody have any tips or recommendations of areas and timing for us to have a good time up there? We're looking at 2nd or 3rd season. We're just hoping to have a crack at a decent buck.

Thanks in advance.

the best advice I can give you if the weather has been bad hunt the lower elevation mgt areas. You will see lots of orange, but stick with it and you may see a decent buck or two. You will see hundreds of deer on private land, up to you to try and get permission. If you are holding out for something big go elsewhere. But you might see a decent 3 point or two. I was all over those units last year you have a lot of land and a lot of hunters. stop by the blm office, north on 13 they will help you out as well. I enjoyed it I would be going back, but I got a tag in the northeast section for archery.

Bring hip waders leaving Craig head toward Hayden(unit 13),public area on the right about 8 miles out of Craig(state land) wear your hip boots to cross the Yampa river then put on the hikeing boots (hide your waders!) good luck............Jim
