Thought that I could post this here, as it probably will get alot of views.
Those that eat MRE's on their backcountry adventures, Where in the Salt Lake area do you get them? And where can you get "Fresh" ones? Please let me know your ideas.
Thanks!

YOU CAN GET THEM @ ARMY NAVY SURPLUS ON REDWOOD ROAD. ABOUT THE FRESHNESS I DON'T KNOW. GOOD LUCK ON YOU HUNTS. IF YOU KNOW SOMBODY IN THE RESERVES SOMETIMES ON THERE WEEKEND MANOVERS THEY HAVE SOME LEFT AND PEOPLE WILL PICK THEM UP FOR YOU. JUST A THOUGHT.

too bad you wernt closer to me, i have almost 2 full boxes i got here in the army i am getting ready to move back to idaho, dont have the space to take them back...

I know in Utah County you can get them at the local Emergency Essential store. I don't know if you have tried them or not I would recommend looking at get the Mountain House Dehydrated foods. They're 100 times better then the MRE's and you have a tone less trash to worry about packing around. The only downside to them when compared to the MRE is you have to heat up some water to soak the dehydrated food in. You can get the Dehydrated food at Sportsman, Wal-mart, Cabalas, Emergency Essentials, REI and a tone other places that I'm sure I'm not a wear of.

I would have to agree with 400bull that a Mountain House dehydrated meal tastes so much better than an MRE, but if you are in an area where you don't have access to water they are nice to have. I typically see them at army navy stores, and you could probably find them online too. You might check with any buddies you have in the national guard, or that work as wildland firefighters. I had more than my share of MRE's while working as a firefighter for the BLM, now I can't hardly stand the taste. I have to be really hungry to eat one, I have brought them on overnight trips and just packed them around the whole time because I just couldn't bring myself to eat it.

How many are you looking for? I am still Acitve Duty Marines in So Cal and have just a few months left but I can get a hold of some. I will be driving home(NE) around the 1st of November on the 15 and then depending on the weather going I-70 or I-80 and across WY. I could try and get some to deliver on my way out there.

yeah but i am wondering if the shipping would be more then buying them. I may leave them here and come get it, depending when i get out. Planning on hunting in colorado.

The best deals I get are off of Ebay.
Get the real thing for cheap. Have to always buy by the case. The MRE suck though compared to mtn house, the weight is too much.
