LAST EDITED ON Aug-29-07 AT 11:47AM (MST)[p]hunting a prime, little known, public unit in southern utah and closing the distance on over 4 28-30 inch 4-points and one outstanding main-frame 3-point with a kicker off his G-2,i just couldn't close the deal. wind, cows, noisy feet, everything just went wrong. i was lucky enough to get to hunt 6 days on this piece of heaven. wednesday night after the opener my 3 good friends met me in another small rural own in southern utah and we hunted another remotely inaccessible piece of mule deer and elk habitat. the first morning of my second hunt found the guys and i covered up in deer. i never shot and lets just say that they never connected. one of the guys "never connected" with a monster 4 point. mainframe 4 with nasty amounts of mass and 28 inches of wall hanging ability. that was a very promising morning but once again, with out shooting, i just couldn't close the deal.

back to camp, sleep, eat, GO!

back to the mountain.

once again while accessing our hunting quary my monster buck stood almost broadside at 35 yards and let me draw back. when i drew, my peep tubing snapped off and i was unable to look through the peep, so i simply looked under the gap in the tied-in-serving. trying to follow through and squeeze off the shot the bow jumped and the buck dropped. my one buddy thought to himself "this is bow hunting, they don't just fall". well when ya tag em like i did, they go straight down!

a fatal shot it was, but i'm the kind of person that if presented with another shot, to quicken the animals death, i will take it. a blow through his lung and out the jugular put him out in less than three seconds.

i would say i am not like some on here, i haven't yet got the monster bug in me. i would love to shoot a big guy, but i am more of an exerience hunter and any decent sized buck is my game. this was one of my favorite hunts.
