Thanks for the comments.

Scott, thanks for posting my picture from '05.

Yes, two great bucks from the same area. The buck from this year was actually my second choice for this year. I had watched a great buck in this area on one of my scouting trips. Just a total pig.

I had seen this one a couple of times and knew he had great height and was wide, but crabby fronts. His G3's are not much to shout at either. His G2's are right at 18-19".

I guess I am a little old school. Years ago that magical number was 30". Nobody really cared about score then. I had never killed a 30" buck and after watching this one for a few times, I guessed him right around that number. My '05 buck was right at 28" wide and I knew this one was wider. Well, Tuesday night this buck was with two other 4 points that I had also scouted. I watched him for a little bit and decided it was time.

I first ranged them at 56 yards but wasn't quite sure of that number. I was trying to look through some tree's and get an accurate reading on my range finder. I finally got a good view and ranged him at 60 yards. (Yes, I know some will say that is too far.) Blah, blah, blah. I am confident and not worried about my shooting ability. I moved into position, he stood broadside and looked right at me. I shoot the new PSE X-Force and smoked him with 1 shot. He only went about 25 yards and dropped like a tone of bricks.

Thanks to my neighbor who helped drag it back to the truck and help skin it out.
Thanks to my wife and kids for putting up with me. Time to elk hunt.

He measured right at 29 3/4" wide. Still no 30"er for me!!!

Great buck! I guess I don't have to ask if you like your X-Force? Do you have the X-Force 6 or 7?

I shot a buck in 2004 that was 29 1/2" wide and a 23 1/2" buck this year that outscored the 2004 buck by more than 14 inches.
