7mm reloads?

Trying to work up some loads for my 7 rem mag for future elk hunts. I have some RL25 that needs to get used. Also have 160 nosler accubonds. Anyone use these two together? I plan on working up to 70 grains with this bullet. Also any opinions on a 160 tsx vs a 150 ttsx barnes bullet? Anybody got a good load with the rl25 and one of these bullets? Any info appreciated. thanks

When I was working up load for my 7mm I tried the rl25 and retumbo. I got more consistant accuracy and velocity with the retumbo which is considered and extreme powder. I also used the 160 Nos Accubond with good results. I ended up using 71 Gr of retumbo with bullet seated 10 thousandth of the lands. I tried the 150 Nos ballistic tip with very good accuracy but at 3000fps they acted more like varmint bullets at anything close range. So I decided to just stick with the accubond. As added bonus the Retumbo also worked very well in my 300 Ultra Mag. As far as the barnes bullets I hear alot of good about them but they just didnt give me the accuracy I was looking for.

Who am I to dispute that reply. Sounds like the voice a vastly knowledgeable and allknowing person. Just can't argue with a person with that kind of intellect. Oh well I guess I'll just continue wasting my time on the 7mm even if it is a POS.

It just shows how his lack of intelligence, and lack of respect for others leads his life. Who are we to question another's free choice? He may be smart, but doesn't know how to use it!

I dont have a 7mm, but I have used both powders through my 300 RUM. I get better results with the RL25, but it is more of a pain to reload. If you have a basic powder dispenser, it doesnt meter very well because of the larger grains. I end up measuring every load with a trickeler to get them exact. The best thing I have used for the bigger grained powder, is an electric powder dispenser made by Hornady. Works great and takes alot of the work out of it, but expensive. Just experiment, because what my gun likes is completely different then my friends 300 RUM, and they are the same make and model. My gun likes the faster loads and his likes the slower loads.

First off, I'll say that I was never a fan of the .284, in particular the 7 RM.

My Dad gave me a plain jane, rem 700 BDL that he won in a raffle, chambered in 7RM.

I've shot it for the last 8-9 years almost exclusively and I've killed 20 or so elk with it, a bunch of deer and antelope, 2 bears, a desert ram...etc.

Three years ago I got a bunch of 160 accubonds on a good deal (always shot partitions prior), and worked up a good load with them and IMR 4831 (62.0 grains) MV 2970, bullets seated a few thousands off the lands.

Shoots pretty fair...one of my first 300 yard groups with my rifle and the accubonds.

Shoots fair at the 575 yard line as well:

I worked through 1lb of RL25 last summer with the 160 grain accubonds. I found a more accurate load with IMR 4350(1gr over max). Ended up shooting a bull last fall through the chest and it exited out the back. Obviously, the bullet was not recovered, but I was impressed with the way the accubond appeared to slam the bull and he never moved. I'm won't debate the effectiveness of a .284 vs .30 caliber, but I was beyond impressed with the performance of the 7mm.

Imr 4350 is ok, but I have found that the H 4350 works better in every caliber I have tried it in. There is nothing wrong with a .284 caliber gun, I own one (7x57). I have killed many animals with it, I only ugraded to a 30 cal for more nock down power for large animals. The only thing thats bad about a .284 is when you get them shooting extremly fast and shoot a cheap bullet, they don't stay together. I know you can get that in any caliber, but in my travels, it seems this caliber does it the most. A 139 out of a 7x57 is perfect, and the 154 out of the 7mm seems to work well through my fathers gun. Varget is another great powder through my 7x57, but I have never checked to see if it will work for the 7mm (I dont think it will) Let us know what you come up with, I am game to try something new.

I shoot this same recipe out of my 7mm Ultra Mag (RL25 w/160 nosler accubonds). Shoots like a dream for me.

I load for 4 different 7RM's and of course they all prefer something a little different. We use 150TSX's, 160Accubonds, and 168Bergers. I find slightly faster powders work best with the 150-160grain bullets with 4831, IMR in my case, the first I grab for. IMR 4350, RL 19, and RL 22 all seem to do well also.

I find slower powders like Retumbo and H1000 work better in the 7RM for the heavier bullets in this case. I wouldn't relate what works well is a case of different dimensions, such as an ultra mag or a wsm to what will work well in this case. BUT, of course you never know and if 160 accubonds and RL25 is what you have then by all means. My best shooting 7mm likes 168 bergers with 63.1gr of RL19, consistently going .5-.6 moa from 400-800 yards, but at only 2875fps.

My buddy gets great results out of H-1000 and 168 grain Bergers. Factory rifles, Remingtons and a Ruger. He has put together loads for a bunch of his buddies. Same stuff for a 7mm short. I have been very impressed with the 7mm, and if someone was going to buy a factory gun, couldn't go wrong with it. Easy to get good rusults with.

I assume this is a joke because it sounds so ridiculous.

If this is not a joke, all I would say is that thousands upon thousands of elk would disagree.

I shoot a browning a-bolt 7mm rem mag, 150g ttsx, 60.5 gr rl22, and fed match mag primers. Its scary accurate!

Last year I developed a load for a friend. This is what his rifle liked.

Retubo 74 grains, 168 Berger vld, chronograph muzzle velocity 3130, Winchester model 70 26" tube.

As of 2 years ago I wouldn't walk across the street for a free 7 RM. I was tired of all the dudes in all the hunting mags posing with some poor dead critter they stumbled upon. Then slain with their shiny new 7 Remington Mag. Then I picked up a used M70 Sporter in the caliber. Though the rifle didn't set my world on fire,it lit a little flame for the round. I then bought a new T3 in 7 Remmy because I didn't have one yet. We hit it off in short order. It shot 140gr Sierras well. 150gr Ballistic tips better. In preperation for elk next fall I loaded some 160gr Speer just to try the 160gr pill. I'm hooked. The target posted is a 100yd group. Between now and elk season I'll work it up to 2" above the bull and go merrily on my way. The round it self isn't new, exciting,or rocket science. I'm still tired of hearing anout it in the magazines. I can't toss it out the door just yet though. It does shoot pretty well.

I have had great luck with 7828ssc and the 160 acubond as well as the 168 berger, I have about 8 lbs rel 25 I never shoot, my winter coyote load wont shoot in the sumer or fall to much pressure,,,

It was a joke. I was trying to raise some interest.
