I have a Sanjuan tag for this limited entry elk season and need an experienced guide, as i live in vegas and want have time to scout. I would prefer someone that knows the unit well and is low key as i am in the music business and dont want a lot of hoop la or media attention. Your recommendations will be greatly
appreciatted. I will see you guys on the mountain.

Thanks
B

Black Timber Outfitters is the one to call for a great San Juan hunt. They consistently put guys on really big Bulls down there. You've got a great tag, one of the best in the west!! Enjoy....

That is BTO's part of the woods. They have guided there for years. Can look at their success on their web under photo's.

Call high top outfitters we have some awsome guides for that unit and have been able to kill a few giant down there including the san juan snake. talk to shane scott or jay simons and they will set you up. check us out at the link below

I would choice 1 of 3.

-BTO
-High Country
-High Desert Wild Sheep Guides.

You will do fine, ok, better than fine with any of them.

Congrats on the tag! I drew an archery elk tag last year and hunted with BTO. Best decision I have made in a long time! Guys had done their homework, and went above and beyond what I had expected of them, plus they were a flat out blast to hunt with. To top it off, I killed a fantastic bull which is my best to date! BTO had an incredible year for both elk and deer and have the photos on their website to prove it! Feel free to pm me any questions. I love to talk elk, especially elk on the SJ! I can also get you in touch with a few other of my close friends who have hunted with BTO on the SJ.

Thanks for all the recommendations and kind words gentleman.

There are some good men who guide on the SJ, most would do you well with your hunt. Its a great unit with some fantastic bulls, it will be a hunt of a life time with whom ever you decide to go with. Best of luck with your decision, I'm happy to discuss anything with you.

for my money i would take the integrity of RANDY JOHNSON over any guide in the state...

HIGH TOP is another top choice, i have seen ALOT of press and stories on how they treat the average hunter to a low cost....HIGH QUALITY experiance...

i wont comment on the other suggested guide...$$$$$ talks

How to start an argument online:
1. Express an opinion
2. Wait

Congrats, it'll be one of the best hunts you ever get to do. I wanted to put my two cents in for BTO as well. I drew an archery tag last year and those guys worked their butts off for me beginning in summer, all the way through my last day of the hunt. Beyond taking a great bull, the company your in is next to none. I'm already trying to line up my next hunt to get on the mountain with these guys again. The price is great and you'll always get your moneys worth out of it. As someone that has never had a guide before, I was worried my previous hunting knowledge would be completely disregarded and it would be their way or no way. With BTO that was just simply not the case. We discussed every days game plan and what I wanted to do, they know the SJ so well though I never felt I wanted to do anything different then what they suggested. Needless to say I had opportunity after opportunity, and ended up taking my biggest bull up to this point. Please feel free to PM me and get more details, but you wont go wrong with BTO.

Wasn't that whole incident a couple years ago??? And seriously, do you think it takes that long to investigate?
