Colo Archery Elk Week?

What's is the best week of the Colorado archery elk season to hunt?We are trying to decide what week to go so I thought I would ask the experts.....Jim

Depends on what type of hunting you like to do. Do you like to hear bugles and have that sort of action or do you like to sit on a wallow and have them come to you?

Let me guess, you drive a 1 ton with oak trees for smoke stacks, 12" lift kit and 40" tires to pull a single place lawn mower trailer?

Any way works for us we will take cows or bulls.It's all good.

LAST EDITED ON Apr-02-13 AT 09:49PM (MST)[p]I always have the best success around the 17th plus or minus a couple days for bulls responding to bugle and cow calls.
Plus I beat the "rush" to hunt the end of the season.


If you can't get out scouting to find where the bulls/wallow are and basically going in blind, then I would wait till later when they are more vocal.

If your coming form out of state and have not scouted the area it is best to be there when they are most vocal. I would hunt the last week given the choice. Week before you will have the muzzy folks running around.
